I am so old. I remember when it was called 'Pic N Save'

Loved it back then....its even better now that it has food.

The wine scares me though.

Woah, I've never seen a Big Lots selling wine (then again I live in TN, where wine can only be sold in liquor stores).

I remember it being called Pic N Save - and the kids teased you if you shopped there!

I went to Big Lots today - did not see anything worthy...

The big lots here is either really hit or really miss.

I've found boxes of Erewhon cereal for $2, Thai Kitchen ramen packets for $.50, fancy pickled veggies, Terra chips, rice snacks/crackers, Bobs Red Mill stuff, 7th Generation TP & cleaning supplies, Natracare tampons, Ecotools bags for $3, and countless other treasures.
Then sometimes I go and all they have are cans of weird soda brands and some bags of crushed tortilla chips.

I can't go, though, unless I have a bunch of spare money. There is nothing sadder than walking away from a Big Lots with one item when you know there are at least twenty that you needed/wanted/were super cheap.

The one near Cedar Bluff had tons of Newman's Own sandwich cookies today, and Peanut Butter Panda Puffs cereal (I think that's what it's called). They had Bob's Red Mill stuff, too, but I didn't think the price was awesome.

I need to check that one out. I found a really awesome garden gnome there one time.

Mine has some pretty decent garden stuff right now! I got 12 6' bamboo stakes for my tomatoes for $6 and a crappy compost bin for $36. The have a ton of gloves and such, too. Oh, and I got three bags of dried fruit (one mango, one apricot, one mixed tropical) for $1.50 each.

This thread has resulted in a rise in my Newman-O consumption.

Me too EmJaeDee! In theory I stocked up for making cookie-crusts for pies, but the reality is probably going to turn out differently.
