The last time I checked, Aveda colours are vegan and are not tested on animals. But that's strictly salon colouring. It's what is used on my hair and I've never enjoyed a colour more than the red I get from Aveda.

I asked this recently - thread might be further down.
Henna from Lush and I think over there you get Revlon?

I'm pretty sure Aveda colours are vegan - I get my hair done at an Aveda salon and I love how my hair looks! I'm not sure about doing your hair yourself at home though.

Henna from Lush and I think over there you get Revlon? I think a few months ago that it was revealed that Revlon was lying about not testing on animals.

I haven't read anything about Revlon testing on animals, but the Revlon Colorsilk hair dye isn't vegan, the conditioner packet that comes in the box has silk as an ingredient. Because Revlon put silk in practically everything. mustards.

All henna, in its purist form, is vegan. Not just the Lush brand. Henna, amla, cassia obovata, and indigo are four basic common types of plant powders used to dye hair and are vegan. If you purchase them from Mehandi, you can get them for a fraction of the price that Lush sells their solid henna, and it's less messy. Manic Panic and SFX are also 100% vegan, and are veggie based dyes.

Revlon own themselves, plus Almay, Mitchum, Sinful Colors, and likely other brands I don't know about. Last I read they still aren't testing, at least they're still on Peta's list. But with so many brands wanting access to the Chinese market everything seems frustratingly ambiguous right now on who really does or does not test.

Special Effects. More funky colors than normal colors but.... I wanted red hair and that worked for me. They have black too, I believe. They're better than Manic Panic which is also vegan.
