Yup, I saw the posts by you and Jessi! TM have confirmed their whole range of fragrances are cruelty free and free of animal ingredients, I'm going to go and test some today

what is a gentle and non-irritating makeup remover that i can use to get 'my face' off? i have been using the ELF wipes for years but i am thinking that they are irritating my eyelid eczema, because an hour after removing my makeup my lids are swollen and puffy.

i wear a lot of black liner and mascara, so the remover needs to work wonders! i have tried olive oil and it made my lids and eye feel heavy and vision blurry for awhile after using it. right now i am using 7th generation baby wipes which are not moist enough but do not cause irritation.

i just made a batch of this stuff tonight, on the recommendation of another awesome ppk'er:
viewtopic.php?p=652488#p652488

she said it works better than her store-bought stuff so maybe it would be worth a shot? i can check back in with my results after i try it, too...

i used it last night for the first time and it worked great! i suppose time will tell if there's any long-term issues, but i was really happy with my first attempt. for the record, i used california baby no-tear shampoo (calendula flavor, heh) in my mix.

i also saw yesterday that giovanni makes two varieties of cleansing wipes, and i thought of you.

Jojoba oil works fantastic to take off stubborn mascara. I am glad you like the remover Bluedawg, isn't it fabulous to make so many bottles out of very little money in comparison? I want to make toner too but have been lazy.

I tried the ones in the black pack...I did not like them. They were dry and not good at getting stubborn makeup off. :/

Ohh, we have the green ones in the gym bag, I just thought of that! They do not work great and are heavily scented. I am trying to keep my stuff really minimal around the eyes. Thanks though!

I was looking at Think Geek and I ran across some eye makeup on sale that says it is vegan (not all sets are):

this from bare escentuals:

Thank you for reaching out to us here at Bare Escentuals. We appreciate you taking the time to write us. Currently, at this time Bare Escentuals only uses the following animal by-products: Carmine, Beeswax and the bristles in our non-synthetic brushes.
Bare Escentuals does not test our products on animals. We also do not work with any manufacturers that do animal testing. Bare Escentuals is supportive of global efforts to ban animal testing, such as the EU legislation which will take effect next year.

We thank you for your support of Bare Escentuals.

and this after i wrote back asking specifically about ingredients in md formulations skin care:

Thank you for your reply. When we mentioned Bare Escentuals, that encompasses all of our lines, Bare Minerals, Buxom and Md formulations.
We hope this clarifies any confusion from our initial email.

from me to Ocean Potion sun care:
Hello!

Is the cholecalciferol in Ocean Potion products derived from animal bi-products?

Thank you!

reply from OP:

Thank you for taking the time to email us with your question.

None of the ingredients that we use in our products are derived from animal bi-products.
Please let us know if you need any further information.

Best regards,

This is about the third time I've mentioned it, so I hope y'all will forgive the repetition but Bare Escentuals/Bare Minerals is owned by Shiseido who does test its cosmetic ingredients on animals. Just something to note when the blog is up.

I hope I'm not coming across as the vegan police--I'm not trying to imply that anyone should draw a line at questionable parent companies.

I am concerned that the e-mail above states "we do not work with any manufacturers that do animal testing." While it may be technically true, it's a grossly misleading statement because they're still making money for Shiseido (unless there is a specific contract that says Shiseido can't use any profits from BE/BM to put towards its own animal testing--according to Leaping Bunny, UD has a similar agreement with L'Oreal).

Somebody tell me to take the pedant hat off.

Repechage Skin Care

Our Lactic Acid is not derived from Lactose which is "milk sugar".

Our L-lactic acid is derived and synthesized by fermentation of sugars.

We don't use animal nor animal derived materials from our formulations.

Hope this answers your question.

Thanks,

I just tried some Giovanni lava wipes. They seem ok. The matching cleanser makes me itch, probably because it has acai extract. The wipes are pretty moist--you would get some liquid if you squeezed.

The parent company thing is vexing. But, this agreement just sounds like the whole lottery for schools crepe. Yeah, the lottery money goes to schools. However, the states just deduct the lottery amount from what they were giving to schools anyway. Net result doesn't change, but it sounds good on paper.

but this is from the first post regarding the beauty blog:
1. Build lists. I want a list of 100% vegan companies, 100% cruelty-free but not all vegan companies, and companies that are CF themselves but may be owned by a parent company that tests so people know all of the options available to them. If you know of companies and can either find a link to someone contacting them or have contacted them yourself, let me know! Obviously we already have a great nail polish list.

and this is better than nothing regarding shiseido:

Shiseido - I'm sure I read that they have recently stopped animal testing. I need to research that to confirm, but I was looking into Nars because they don't test and I like their stuff, but they're owned by Shiseido.

Oh, I'm not saying to exclude Bare Escentuals from the blog--I was making the clarification so it ended up on the correct list (even if the list is "unknown", as baps may be correct that they've stopped testing).
