I am a lipstick enthusiast, and I was crushed recently when I found out a large number of brands are no longer cruelty-free due to selling in China. I was very fond of Clinique's colors and formulas so I would like to find something comparable. I prefer stick and not gloss. I know there are cruelty-free brands out there, but I am interested in people's recommendations. Does anyone have a favorite brand/formula they like?

So many! My favorites are Too Faced's La Creme lipsticks (all vegan), The Elixery's lipsticks (all vegan, only sold online though), and ELF's Studio moisturizing lipsticks and Wet n Wild's Megalast matte lipsticks (both all vegan) on the budget end of things. I haven't tried Melt Cosmetics lipsticks yet personally but I've heard only good things. All vegan there too, I believe.

I'd also point you to the makeup thread - lots of great info there.

Ooh Milani is another brand I hadn't heard of, and it looks as if they have a lot of good colors. The price is right too. Thank you!

Wait, there are vegan Milani lipsticks? All the ones I've seen have beeswax in them.

Melt is expensive, but amazing. Stays on forever.

I'm a big fan of Manic Panic. Stays on pretty well, feels nice, not pricey at all.

OCC makes lip tars that people love. It doesn't last as long on me as everyone says it should though.

Thanks for the responses. I have bookmarked all the relevant links for future shopping indulgence. Nice that there are some cheap-o ones too. :-)

If you want something sheer or semi-sheer, the Hibiskiss are really nice. I wish the color range were broader. I've never seen them in stores, but places like Vegan Essentials sells them.

There's hourglass too if you want some more high-end recommendations. Not all of their lipsticks are vegan, but the vegan ones are clearly labeled. I also love the too faced la cremes and elixery lipsticks too.
