I am transitioning my cleaning products. I just bought Seventh Generation and it left many of my dishes dirty. Is there anything else that is better? My dishwasher is high efficiency so unlike handwashing it saves water and energy. With the other detergents that don't have the "sign of the bunny" it has worked well.

Ugh, the Seventh Generation stuff is awful!
My preferred is the Method Smarty Dish tablets, second if I can't find those is Mrs Meyer's Clean Day packets. The only reason those come in second is that I sort of have to massage the packets to flatten them out so that they fit in my detergent cup. But both work a billion times better than the SG liquid, which almost made me give up on my dishwasher and go back to hand washing.

I'm having no trouble with the Seventh Generation stuff, but my dishwasher is brand new. (I use the liquid, because with previous dishwashers the powder didn't work so well.)

My dishwasher is brand new too. I'd lived 8 years without one and then was so disappointed when it worked so poorly. I wonder if the effectiveness of various types depends on your water (like liquids work better in hard water or vice-versa) because it was night and day when I gave up the SG liquid for the Method tablets.

I use whatever's cheapest/on sale at my favorite grocery store and just stock up with 3 boxes. Right now I'm using Ecover fragrance- and dye- free powder, and it's working out well.
Before Ecover, I had Seventh Generation and it worked really well in my dish washer, except if the washer was loaded with a few dishes that had little bits of spinach on them, I'd find those spinach bits dried inside one or two cups on the top shelf after the washer finished. I haven't had any spinach or chopped greens run through my wash lately, so I can't tell if it's a dishwasher or detergent problem.

Weirdly, Smarty Dish didn't work for me at all. Our dishwasher is sort of on its last legs, and some dishes do come out dirty with 7th Gen powder, but with Smarty Dish it was almost everything. So frustrating! We do have hard water, though, I wonder if that makes the tabs less effective.

is all the method stuff vegan, or just their dishwasher detergent?

In Toronto, I find the Method Smarty Dish tabs at Shoppers Drug Marts. They're my faves, too. I get the pink grapefruit scent.

I just use vinegar and 1-2 Tablespoons of Borax. Despite my ridiculously hard water, the dishes come out nice and clean.

Maybe it's only available in Canada but I use Bio-Vert tablets. They work very well and I am fussy about clean dishes.
