I've been putting off upgrading my comforter for a while, and it's time (aka payday). It's all bunched up and lame. Does anyone have recommendations for in-store or online purchases? My last one was a discounted $100 Nautica from Bed, Bath & Beyond. I'm open to spending around that again, though I'd love to spend less...
I'm browsing the internets but I don't know what to trust and want something pretty warm, and so many have shitty reviews. Any recs for an IKEA comforter? I'd kinda love something velour-like, but I don't even know where to start on that.
What do you have? Recs?
thanks!

I just saw this! I was at Ikea yesterday, and I noted they had a medium-warm synthetic comforter for $50 (you'd have to buy a cover separately, though - I bought one yesterday for $10 that's super cute, however).

jdfunks wrote: oh, thanks guys! I'm glad the ppk wasn't entirely anti-comforter. papaya - I was SO CLOSE to buying this one: http://www.snugglyminkblankets.com/prod ... anket.htmljordan - yeah, I didn't even know about this comforter cover thing until recently, and apparently I'm supposed to grow up and buy a duvet? it's overwhelming. Oh, ha! I thought they were the same thing! Perhaps it's the cold climate I'm from, but I grew up with just duvets and quiltcovers. They're more of a pain to launder, but it's nice to be able to change 'em up. I do recommend Ikea. They always have sales on quiltcovers for $10 or less.

yeah! ikea has some super warm synthetic comforters. i like having a duvet because it's easy to wash and it's fun to put it back on because you sort of have to get inside your blanket to get the corners right.

I have this one from The Company Store in medium warmth and I love it: http://www.thecompanystore.com/La-Cross ... lternativeMy old comforter was an ancient company store down comforter my parents bought me when I stopped sleeping in a crib; it lasted me constant sleeps from then through college, and I would still be using it if I hadn't graduated to a full-sized bed. I seriously don't think I'd ever get another brand.
