....after adopting a vegan diet 3 years ago, I am working to transition all my personal/beauty products to be cruelty free and (if possible) vegan.

Cover Girl stopped making their Outlast Lip Color in my color, so I have been looking for an animal friendly replacement that will stay on my lips. Money is tight because I am unemployed so I have been checking out the drugstore brands with no luck.

**I found NYX lipstick in a decent color, but it refuses to stay on my lips. My teeth look great, though!
**Ditto for Wet n' Wild Mega Last Color.
**I bought Elf lipstick, but it was basically a magic marker. Oh well, it was only $2.[/list]

As I am job hunting, I cannot have lipstick all over my teeth. (Like I did yesterday after coming out of an interview. At least I probably wasn't going to get that job anyway....) And, I don't wear a lot of makeup so I really need lipstick. I'm ashamed to say that I would go back to Cover Girl if they still made good ole #522. :-(

I would be willing to pay more for a decent lipstick that stays put. Any ideas?

i find layering lipstick over a colourpop pencil makes it last for hours. i am not sure how long lasting their lipsticks are but they might do the trick!

Which ELF lipstick did you try? I find their studio lipstain lasts long.

i found both were true for the ELF stain- it is a marker, but it lasts a long time. I used to use that and then put chapstick or a clear gloss over it. Looks terrible if your lips are chapped, but otherwise not bad.

I rarely wear lipstick because it never stayed on when I first started wearing make up (and now I have had 40+ years of not wearing it!) but I'm sure I read good things on here about OCC's lip tar so I bought some - haven't tried it out yet though.

Your best bet is a matte liquid lipstick, because they pretty much don't move. All of these brands are vegan, and I can vouch for Aromi, Coloured Raine, and Pretty Zombie having used them myself, and I've heard great things about Dose of Colors.

If you wanted to get something you can try out in person, the Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipsticks stay well too, and they sell them at Sephora so you can go in and check out the colors yourself, instead of relying on pictures on the internet.

I think the Lush lipsticks work really well and stay on for a long time. They aren't actual sticks, more of a liquid lip stain that you put on with a brush.

I've never seen these in a store. Must go check tomorrow!
