Judging from the "What are you wearing?" thread, a lot of PPKers are super stylish! Maybe we can share advice/ideas/etc. I'll go first: I have a dress that looks a lot like this one:

Mine is a rich plum colour. What should I pair with it?

I say petrol/turquoise/sea green coloured accessories and tights! I love combining purple & petrol green.

Awesome! I am out of tights, so I think I will look for some in turquoise. I've never heard it called petrol green before - very interesting!

My really fashion conscious friend calls it petrol. So I just went by her terms. :)

Olive green and plum is a favorite of mine. Or mustard/goldenrod!

Can I ask a Q?

Shorty-shorts over tights? Yay or tacky? I have bought some super rad tights/leggings that are to sheer on their own and I do not do skirts or dresses...

I vote yay. I saw a photo of someone wearing coral short-shorts with sheer black tights, and it looked awesome. Post pics!

It's not for me, but I see it on other people and it usually looks cute. I feel like you could definitely rock it.

I went to American Eagle yesterday and tried on shorts. Most shorts that are super short are low rise. I have narrow hips, even after going down to a 6 (I wear anything from a 8-10 normally) the shorts still fell off me. I walked away with these in a size 6 because they are elastic:

http://www.ae.com/web/browse/product.js ... cat1680006

I am going to try on some Levi's soon. I have a thrifted pair of Levi 350 jeggings (but not jeggings because they are heavy duty with little stretch) that are a size 9 that just fit so perfect, skinny legs, lack of hips and all.

I saw a pair of Hudson Beetle Juice jeans I cried out for - the boyfriend always talks me out of my Beetle Juice clothing fantasy...:/

Those are cute!

So glad someone started this thread. I have so much stuff that makes me go, what do I do with this? Like my white eyelet skirt. Ive had it for years and I've only worn it a handful of times because I never know what to wear with it. And tucked in things look stupid on me.

I had a white eyelet skirt for a long time that I also never knew what to do with. Is yours pretty flowy? I usually do half-flowy, half-fitted. So for a flowy white skirt, I'd pair it with a fitted shirt, maybe a v-neck. Or a coloured tank with a cardigan.

That's cute. The only thing I can see that might not work is if it's super skimpy. Sometime cover ups/beach things are really thin and flimsy.

I have a long white eyelet skirt that is flowy; it has a cool swishy lining. I usually wear either a black cami or a slim fit bright turquoise v neck tee with it. That skirt is one of the things I'm excited to wear again if I lose weight.

the cover up is cute, thick - not sheer. however it is a drop waist and makes me look like i am wearing a potato sack....back to the store!

Ok all you fashionable PPKers! I could use some fashion advice. I have plantar fasciitis and I'm really limited in terms of what shoes I can wear. I pretty much have this one pair of Sketchers with memory foam insoles that I wear all the time. Any other shoes really irritate my heel. Because of this, I've pretty much only been wearing jeans and lately leggings and tunics.

I know that people do pair sneakers and skirts and I'm trying to get up the nerve to do that. I just ordered this skirt, because it was too cute to pass up and it looks casual enough to pair with sneakers. But I'm really not sure if it will work/I can get away with it.

Context: I am 5'0" (152 cm) tall, wear a size 16, have fairly chunky calves, and am 48 years old. Tell me honestly, oh PPK, would this skirt and sneaker combo really work on someone short, plump, chunky-calved, and middle-aged? If I do wear it, should I go for understated black tights, or turquoise/purple/other bright color, or will I then look like mutton-dressed-as-lamb (not vegan). I get the sense that if I saw one of you guys wearing this combo in the "What did the PPK wear today?" thread, I would think it was super cute, and that all I really need is the confidence to wear it. But I don't have an eye for these things and maybe it's a really bad combo (or perhaps not age appropriate, whatever the hell that means)? Whaddya'll think?

I'm in a similar boat to you, lepelaar, in that because of my hip I've only been wearing comfy, stable flats the past few years and they've been quite casual-looking. I wear skirts/dresses and opaque thick tights, usually black, very often and I don't think I'm being remotely fashionable but I usually feel alright about what I'm wearing. (ETA that's probably not helpful is it, since I don't have a clue what's fashionable these days! I think you'll look lovely in that skirt and comfy shoes and whatever you choose to pair with them!).

Good luck Lepelaar! I'm think that if it makes you happy, you'll look amazing in it! I feel like a good chunk of fashion sense is confidence. Some of the most fashionable people I know don't look like the models in the catalog, but their outfits have so much panache.

I totally need to take that advice as well. I haven't been able to wear heels properly since my knees were shredded in a skiiing accident 12 years ago, and I wear sneakers and jeans (winter) or khakis (summer) all the time as well. I appreciate the inspiration to try and branch out from there!

What I do is ignore the problem. I wear whatever my outfit is, and it's usually a skirt, and then have my ugly, inappropriate looking clogs. I wear black tights with black shoes, so that might help a bit.

It would be difficult enough to find shoes that work without throwing veganness into the mix. I've just thrown in the towel completely. Especially since I can't wear flats because I have super high arches and just step right out of them, even if they are a size too small.

So, I guess my advice is to wear what you want and then just put on comfy shoes and my worry about it because you will still look great. If people want to sneer at your shoes, let them; you have better things to do.

I think that's a great combo Lepelaar, it will totally work! I've been living outa my backpack for a year so I pretty much wear black Sketchers that are similar to those, a short black skirt and black leggings every single day. I used to wear black Vans but they just aren't comfy enough when you're walking 5-10 miles a day and they have no grip at all so Sketchers are a definite win. I would probably wear patterned grey tights with that look but I prefer to wear all black / grey and then accessorise with fun colours especially in winter.
