I just bought a black and red dress and a Black and Tan dress.they are too short to wear without leggings, but what color? Black seems too dark. Ideas?

I'd suggest a different color entirely but as long as you have something else that ties that color in, like with the black and tan dress, yellow would look cool, especially if you had like... a yellow necklace or something. With the black and red dress, I'd say a burgundy if you wanted to be more understated, or a peach if you wanted for more fun.

I wear black with everything. But yellow would be my second choice too. I don't necessarily think you even need an accessory to match the yellow tights.

Listen to Mars!

I would do black too. My leggings are all black, brown, and grey neutrals but I love it when I see people go bold and vibrant with leggings.

I need to see pics! For the black & tan I might choose a dark purple.

Wow, Mars is a genius.

I mostly wear heather grey in that situation because black is too dark (especially because I am so often wearing a black dress). I haven't been able to find comfortable, not see-through, not saggy plus-size leggings in vibrant colors, so it's all black and grey.

I will post a pic of one dress tomorrow to get your ideas, but the other is getting altered. Damn big arm holes.

I really like the idea if branching out into wilder colors, because I always default to grey. I have black, navy, and brown I think. The black and red one looks really red with a bit of back. Little red flowers all over a black background.

I bought a bunch of cheap, summery dresses while I was here visiting in the states, but I will need to winterize them with leggings, cardigans and scarves when I get back to the Netherlands. I'm bad at accessorizing! I will need PPK fashion advice.

Yup, I guess plus size people arent allowed to have colorful legs!

Check out the blog frocks and frou frou, she does a lot of tights that are plus sized and vibrant. But they are all from overseas companies mostly and would have to be ordered online. Tights dont work for summer. But man do I love her wardrobe http://frocksandfroufrou.com/

Tights are one of the few items where I dare to go for really bold colors. I have some in magenta, neon yellow, mustard yellow, rusty orange and blue. With a blue dress I will wear yellow, with a brown dress yellow or orange, and the rest of my clothes are black or grey. I think it can be especially fun to wear shoes (Converse, in my case) that clash a bit with my tights - like, pink or orange with yellow shoes.

You guys have to check out We Love Colors. Their nylon/lycra tights are really nice and they come in a HUUUGE selection of colors.

Also, the Teggings from Re/Dress are my absolute favorite. They're the best of both leggings and tights, and come in lots of colors. http://www.redressnyc.com/regular-length-teggings/

I should have specified that I don't like sheer leggings. They are way to see through for me. Also, this might just be me. But I'm a bigger girls and my thighs rub together so those would last me like two wears before they would be trash. I need thick cotton in able to last a whole season.

They are really cute though, I think I've seen them before!

Yes, no sheer for me, please! I am a big fan of microfiber or modal for leggings over cotton, though. They are slinkier.

I hear you on the thigh rubbing. I wear bike shorts under dresses to prevent chub-rub and keep my hosiery from shredding after a couple wearings.

I can't say enough good things about teggings though. They're totally opaque, really thick and durable and super comfy. I have a pair in every color, it's a bit ridic.

Going off of that review, I would try the teggings. If I had any money to spend! Keeping the link for later.

can i encroach on this thread and ask how to do this with skirts/dresses that are longer? i'm not comfortable showing my legs, but i would like to be able to wear casual skirts and dresses sometimes (and some of those times aren't winter).

is that weird? am i going to look weird?
