I do sometime too but I prefer the finish of a brush. I just dot the foundation on then buff it in with a brush.

I like the Real Techniques expert face brush too, and Sigma F80. I also have the Sigma F88, flat kabuki, and F82, round kabuki, and they're excellent as well.

Any dense flat top round brush like that will be good for foundation. Philosophy Supernatural Airbrush is slightly smaller but extremely dense and good for blending foundation. Also dense kabuki brushes, which are typically sold for use with mineral makeup, can be good for blending liquids too.

Yep, I do the same. I like to dampen my brush a little bit sometimes depending on the foundation/how dry and craggy my skin is looking at the moment.

Thanks guys! I was thinking of Real Techniques, their brushes are everywhere. I still don't understand that weird flat brush from Elf. Maybe I'll just hold onto it for painting small wall patches.

Can you post a pic or link to it? If I can see it I might be able to offer usage suggestions!

It's way flat, so when I use it I am really using the sides of it, you can't really use the top of the bristles because it's so flat. Odd.

I'd probably use that for highlighting and contouring, maybe blush.

MMC I like a damp beauty blender now & again (well the Real Techniques' equivalent anyway), but overall I do prefer a brush.

another Real Techniques fan here. I also recently got a bedellium tools brush that I like.... A LOT.

I don't think their whole line is vegan, though.

I don't know why I have been so fascinated by the following products lately. Probably the forbidden fruit syndrome going on because I am low on funds and these products are crazy expensive. BUT.....has anyone tried any of Charlotte Tillbury's eyeshadow quads or Tom Ford's quads or blushes?

All of bdellium's bambu brushes are vegan. I think some of their standard line are not.

I don't know anything about Charlotte Tillbury, but Tom Ford is owned by Estee Lauder, so they're not cruelty-free.

I have no idea if Charlotte Tilbury is owned by another company but im sure I read they don't test. I saw the stand in selfridges last week and some of the stuff looks amazing (and I follow her on youtube!!). But oh man it's pricey!!

Thanks for the info on Tom Ford.

And Yes! CRAZY expensive, especially with shipping to the US. But those eyeshadows.....

Yeah they are lovely. I watched one of her videos the other day and she used this sparkly eyeshadow and I was like OH I NEED THAT! Then I saw the prices and didn't bother to look if it was vegan! hahahha.

i'm not sure why, but i can't log in to the MUA website anymore (it just keeps telling me my password is wrong, even though it isn't... and it won't let me reset it, either), so i can't track the status of my palette order. it's driving me bonkers, but i guess i will just be really super excited on the day they finally show up out of the blue.

I forget who makes Tom Ford, but they tested even before everybody started selling in China. There was a silver nail polish I wanted last year so I researched. Sorry I don't remember the details.

If it's any consolation, beyond being marked as shipped, there was no tracking info for mine. It did indeed just show up one day out of the blue.

I picked up the Physician's Formula CC concealer and while I theoretically like the texture for my undereyes, just swatching the lightest shade on my arm it's way too dark, so I went on a google quest, and I think I might have found something promising.

http://www.christopherdrummond.com/Duo- ... ealer.html

There are only a few swatches and reviews online, but it looks really nice, hydrating with good slip, but nicely pigmented too, and a pretty wide shade range compared to a lot of brands. The downside is as far as I know it's only available online, and it's kind of pricey, BUT it's in a pump, and the reviews I read said you only need a partial pump to get enough product to cover both undereyes.

I'm too tight on money right now to order it, but I think I'm going to give it a try next month *fingers crossed*

Has anyone used anything from Christopher Drummond before?

No but like you I came across it looking for a good undereye concealer. It was available over here but it was pricey.

Hello there makeup-wearing members of the PPK. I have never applied my own makeup, although my sister has put some on me a couple of times (I only tell you this so you can fully appreciate my level of ignorance when it comes to these things). I've always been jealous of people who wore makeup well and I would love to know some basics. I don't really want to start wearing it every day, but there are so many times when I'm going out or to an event, or I just want to feel better about myself, and I wish I knew what I was doing so I could wear a bit of makeup.

I know there is a ton of info in this thread, but I'm feeling a little overwhelmed by all the info and don't really know where to start. What do I need? There are so many products and brands! How do you know what colors to buy? Do I need foundation and powder and blush and primer (I don't even know what that is) and eye shadow and eye liner and mascara and lipstick? Can you help me? Is there a good starter tutorial out there you can recommend?
