I've been scouring Zappos for rain boots (I also want to get some of those super warm boot socks to go with), but I'm overwhelmed. I don't want the calf part to be too big since I have smallish calves. I've been looking at the Earth ones, but they're so forking shiny. I'm tempted to go with yellow rainboots, but I might be too conservative for that.

Help me out PPK.

I'm partial to those coloured Hunter ones but they're rather exxy for rain boots.

Yeah, they're cute but pretty expensive. I also think the calf opening is pretty big based on the video. I want something fitting.

I have a pair of Plueys (http://www.plueys.com) that fit my chubby calves just fine. Plus they're cuuute!

I believe mine are Chinese Laundry and they were not that expensive. They have a little buckle on the side, so minimal detail, otherwise plain colored.

Those are cute, but the calf part looks too big for my liking. I have little calves! I mean, I'm trying to do some working out and biking to beef 'em up, but for now they're scrawny. Makes boot shopping a little annoying.

Oh! Sorry, I was confusing this thread and the big calves thread. Yes, these would be too big for you then!

Tretorn has some cute ones: http://store.tretorn.com/womens/c/30000/
Just be careful, because the pair I bought last year came with a little leather flap. It looks like a bunch of them are vegan, however.

esme pointed me in the direction of this site: http://www.shoprainco.com/categorydetail/catid/1/
I'm actually expecting a new pair from them today!

I have a pair of Hunters and they're quite fitted. They're the only rainboots that I've ever liked enough to actually wear (even as I little, little kid I refused to wear rain boots and would through fits if I had to) and they're really comfortable too!

I have kamik rainboots and they aren't too too big for my calves. (If I'm wearing them with pants, they fit well. They feel slightly big when I wear them with tights. With the fleece liners I have for them, they fit really nicely.)

I like my Earth Elites! Pricey, but I wear them often (not just in the rain, either!). You can also find coupons online for planetshoes.com. They have a 20% off sale going on now (I think the code is boots20)

I was going to recommend the Tretorn ones, too! They have some that are lined with faux fur, and I'm sure you could call customer service/email someone and ask abt any leather.

It is hard to find boots for skinnier calves. I always found that the higher end designers had skinnier boots, but they're usually not $150 or less, or vegan-friendly.

I have small calves and I have a pair of the yellow Hunter tall rain boots. They do flop around my legs when I walk, but I didn't mind when I got them 7 years ago because it's always so hard for me to find some boots that actually fit my calves that were actually in my price range. I now love those darn things, and will probably have to replace them soon since they're getting pretty beat up from several years of heavy use in the dirt, mud, and rain. They're not leaking or anything, but the heels are getting pretty worn and probably half of the traction is gone, yet they're still very usable... Hunter is pretty awesome quality-wise like that.

I've been searching Zappos too, and I really like these ones called Hunter Regent.

And on the plus side, they're a full inch smaller around the calf than the regular Hunter Wellingtons: the Regents are 15" around, and the Wellingtons are 16" around the calves. If I get those, I'll probably just use these ones for rain, and the yellow/beat up ones I have in the dirt/mud.

How are the Hunters comfort-wise? I have pretty high arches and have always found cheapo rainboots to be painful. I'm hoping some of those higher end ones, like the Hunters, have decent arch support.

Another vote for tretorns!

Also, my friend has an awesome animal-free pair of rainboot-shoes that look like leopard print converse sneakers even though they are rain boots. She bought them over here somewhere though, so it's not much help to you... I'll go see if they're on the internet somewhere...

It appears that Hunter also makes children's sizes up to a size 6 (I think that would be a 7 1/2 - 8 in women's). A lot of the reviews on zappos seemed to be petite women buying them, as a lot of reviewers were commenting that the adult ones were too tall for shorter women.

They don't have much arch support, but they're comfy enough for me... I've found that Hunters run a bit on the larger side, so if you really want to add some arch supporting insoles, they'd definitely fit. :)

I hope you haven't gone ahead and bought hunters, but if you have, I hope they worked great for you! I too am looking for rain boots for high arches, especially after getting home in the rain tonight and trying to take off my new hunters and after 10 minutes of excruciating tugging by my friend and by my husband, we had to cut them off my feet!!! I mourn the loss of my pretty boots, but man, it got too painful to keep trying, and what's weird is that they slipped on sooooo easily! So just be careful with the hunters, if there is any slight resistance when putting them on, maybe you shouldnt :)

Kathytrask, that's kinda weird and very unfortunate! They usually run large, from all the reviews I've read and comments I've heard from friends...
Maybe you ordered a size too small, or you have a combo high arch+"high feet" (high instep).

I adore my Hunters. I have skinny calves and they fit great, they have more support than most rain boots, are way more flexible (like actual bendable rubber as opposed to shiny stiff plastic), and they last, unlike most cheap rainboots which crack or get holes over time. I emphatically recommend them.

Lots of love for the Hunters! Well, I'm still looking and waiting for a freelance payment, so it might be a while. Leaning toward the Hunters, though.

i have really skinny calves and the earth boots were way too loose on me, so you can imagine that all of the tall rubber ones are ridiculous too. post any super skinny calf rain boots here, and you will win big love from me!
