That looks awesome, Rubella! I always take these pictures with my eyes closed, because apparently when I open them you pretty much can't tell what's going on. As you can see below. Also, all of my makeup is just a variation on a theme. Today the variation was purple, which was more purple in real life.

Same here! My makeup (which is very rare) usually is just glitter sprinkled onto my eyelid which then trickles around my cheeks and eventually I just look like a little girl who likes glitter...(not the kind of sex appeal I want to be putting out there)

Everybody, thank you all for posting. Make-up is our way of doing a little bit of art every day. I have a lot of issues with acne and I feel like make-up keeps me from getting really depressed and never leaving the house. It is like adding the way I feel inside to my eye lids and saying, "fork you" to bad self-esteem. This thread is motivating me more and more.
Oh my god, Rubella is my idol. I am seriously inspired. I am not afraid to admit I am going to flat out copy Rubella.
Does anybody try to use exclusively mineral make-up? I gave up on make-up altogether after trying to use mineral for years. I don't feel like buying more so I'm going about 50% mineral 50% zuzu luxe.

Amandabear and Mushrooni - I love it! I love the shape of asian eyes (good Lard I hope that doesn't sound racist) especially the inside corner, I wish my eyes were more like that. I can't get away from always wearing black liner no matter what else I do with my makeup, it just looks weird to me and I kinda wish I could get past it sometimes. I like it, but it feels limiting. Sra. Nooch I'm glad to be an inspiration! Feel free to rip me off, I don't consider anything I do to be all that original since I mostly just try out stuff I see in videos. You should watch this girl on Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/user/Zydratebitchhttp://www.youtube.com/user/MentalShiverand I also really love this girl http://www.youtube.com/user/LetzMakeup

I went through the same thing. I was addicted to black liner! I felt naked without it. I just cut it out cold turkey and tried other things, including other dark liners like browns and grays, and sometimes even no eye makeup at all, and eventually I got used to the look. Now I use it when I'm in the mood, which is often, but I don't feel so attached to it.

Count me in as another person who can't go without black eyeliner. You can pry it from my cold dead hands!

I like brown eyeliner when I wear it at all. Sometimes navy or olive green. I like the idea in theory but since I wear it so seldom I never feel like it looks right.

I want to post pictures in this thread, but I have the same problem as Fee in which my pictures show basically nothing!
I am also a fan of the gold eyeshadows, it's my favorite color to put on when i'm just putting on one color.
I feel like i'm thirteen all over again. I didn't wear makeup hardly at all for years because I was unemployed and didn't leave the house, but now there's so much stuff on the internet to learn from that it's actually fun to play around instead of sad. I don't have a steady hand at all and i'm certainly not good, but the keys to not looking like a sad hooker seem to be:
Brushes, not sponge applicators. Blend, blend, blend. And then blend some more.
I'm usually scared to put on eyeliner because i'm so bad at it and end up with huge thick lines to cover my mistakes, but I want to practice so what i've been doing is putting it on as best as I can and making sure to really get down to my lashline, and then I take a short angled brush and put a line of eyeshadow over the top. So I get to practice, my lashline is dark, and the eyeshadow covers my horrid, shaky top line.
I also recently starting using an eyebrow pencil. A few months ago, I trimmed part of one eyebrow too short so I had to fill them in to hide the bladish spot. Now I can't imagine not doing it.

I do not fill in my brows! But they're pretty dark to begin with so filling them in might venture into Groucho Marx territory. For the fairer-of-hair or the thinner-of-brow it's definitely the way to go, good eyebrows can really define your face.

If there's one makeup thing I'm addicted to, it's filling in my brows. I use a matte taupe shadow and short brush. I have dark brown/black hair, but the taupe is dark enough to look substantial without being too intense. I started filling them in about 8 years ago and I can't imagine what I was doing before then. For a more dramatic/night/going out look, I'll rub a spot of black eyeliner on the pad of my thumb, then run the brush through that.

This not only made me laugh a lot, but thanks for the tip! I'm taking all that I can from everyone.
