i need at least one, probably two, area rugs for my apartment. seems like 97% of all area rugs are woolly. and i don't even really know where to look for them, anyway! i'm not opposed to ordering online, but would probably prefer to be able to see something before i buy it. i've looked at ikea and places like pottery barn, west elm, urban outfitters, anthropologie, etc. and had very little luck finding something that i like aesthetically that's not made of wool.
do you have rug ideas, ppk? lay 'em on me!

I haven't seen them in person, but there are always a few on Urban Outfitters' site that I like that are totally cotton.

i think I remember CB2 having a few non-wooly area rugs. They also have these: http://www.flor.com/. they're USA made and from recycled plastic bottles or something like that. I have two rugs in my house made of them. I like!

CB2 has FLOR- you like them? I need at least an 8x10 or so. Maybe I'll make the trek out to go see one in person. So, you can make it as big as you'd like, because it's a rug made of tiles, essentially? It says it's easy to clean, too... sounds good!

If my living room gets cleaned any time soon I'll take a picture of the flor tile rug we have.

i've got a giant flor rug in my toddler's room. depending on what style of tiles you choose it can be a very affordable way to make a really big rug.
we've had a couple "incidents" on our rug, and it is SO easy to clean. not only because i don't have to be afraid to take some soap to it, but because you can pick up the individual pieces that got messed up and clean them in your sink/wherever is convenient to you. most of their tiles are made in the USA, but i believe a few are not (i remember i was going to go with one style but passed because of this). they also will take tiles back when you are done with them and recycle them.

If you are in the U.S., Target has synthetic rugs, made in the USA too. I also saw some online at Kmart that were surprisingly nice.
