I don't think there is a thread like this already...

I've been dating a guy for the past three weeks and I'd like to get him something little for Christmas time but I'm totally stumped! I think I'll make a bunch of food for him to freeze (like muffins, waffles etc) and I could get him a pre-paid coffee card but that's not very romantic...help me PPK!

He's kinda silly and adorable (goes all out at dress up parties, collects random shiitake, likes retro stuff) and is a coffee addict, hmmm what else...we are pretty close already but obviously three weeks is not a very long time.

What are you doing for your significant other?

I'm really happy that you met someone nice!

I think the gift really hinges on what your relationship is like (ie have you spent the last three weeks boning and making wedding plans? :)? Oh wait, no that's just me fishing for details :)

You could bake him cookies and give them to him with a bag of your favorite coffee beans and maybe add some home-made vanilla sugar? That would make for a nice somewhat personal but not overly personal basket.

For my significant other, I am paying for a course for us to take next year, so I'm not getting him anything for Giftmas itself. Though this thread is inspiring me to maybe just do something nice for my very lovely partner

^ haha mbm.

I had just started dating Trevor right before Christmas back in the day, and I think I got him a nice scarf, a candle and a Michael Jackson greatest hits CD since listening to MJ was sort of our thing. Simple, not too mushy, and kind of funny.

And congrats on the new love interest!

For me, early relationships get mix CDs and something else homemade (usually baked goods as I am not very craftsy). You can make several mixes, too--like a happy one and a sadder one, or one for daytime and one for night, or one that's music you think he won't know but should to get to know you better, etc.

What about these retro robot ornaments since he likes retro stuff. I saw them at Toy Joy and thought they were adorable.

I usually get boardgames or a TV show on DVD because its something we can do together.

what about a handmade coffee cup cosy? there's loads of patterns around for crochet, knit and sewing.

Do you live near a Micheal's craft store? They have blank coffee cups that come with permanent ceramic markers - you can totally make him his own personalized coffee mug (for around $3)! :) Even if you are not uber artistic you can just draw something silly or cute that you share...Personalization is really cool when it comes to gifts! Add a bag of beans - maybe a coffee press (something retro that is making a come back - I have seen 4 cup ones for under $20) and there ya go!

If you're going to make him homemade baked goods, maybe make some biscotti to have with his coffee! I like the homemade mug idea!

Does he make coffee at home? How about some coffee beans? Maybe your favorite roast, something fair trade and sustainably grown?

If I had been dating a woman for only three weeks, I would be really impressed by something crafty or baked, but slightly creeped out by anything that took more than a few hours to make. Baking him some biscotti or the mug idea or something similar sound about right to me.

If you make a mix CD you have to do what I do for the menfolk: "Songs To Do It To"

That is just what I was thinking. 3 weeks seems way too soon to be buying gifts for someone you're dating, but then I'm a crabby, unromantic old lady.

I'm a romantic, and I think that if you like him and want to give him cookies after 3 weeks that is awesome. If someone gets creeped out by the fact that the woman he has been boning made him cookies he's an asparagus.

Seriously, what kind of person looks at cookies and doesn't go "Yay cookies" but instead goes "OMG COMMITMENT!"

I don't know. My partner is a man, and really, if you give him sex and cookies, he's yours for life.

I just asked my husband and he said he would not be creeped out at all, and would think it was a sweet gesture. So nyeh!

I don't think cookies or other baked goods are too forward or whatever at all. Some people just like to bake. My roommate gave me cheesecake for my birthday after knowing me for a day!
