Hi,
I'm going on a trip to Iceland in May and I am trying to find appropriate shoes for outdoor adventures. I'd like hiking boots (as opposed to trail runners) because of the cold, snowy conditions we're likely to be in. We're doing at least one glacier hike. Any advice? Bonus points if they come in wide width!

I bought Merrell hiking boots with Gore-tex a few years back that were vegan. I can't find any vegan ones now on their website but I got mine at REI so you might just stop there if you live near one and take a look. This is all I can find on their website right now. It's a men's shoe but I've gotten by with men's boots before without any issues. I have no clue why they wouldn't offer an option for women! They might not be very warm either :( Mine are huge heavy duty things. http://www.merrell.com/US/en-US/Product ... o-Manistee

I bought some Trespass boots recently which were made from all-synthetic material.

Oooh, I was gonna ask this same question! (Well, I'm not going to Iceland, but I need some new boots). The Bogs look super interesting. I've had Merrills before and I really like them, but when I was in REI this past week there weren't any synthetic ones. However, I haven't looked online for any yet.
I've never heard of Trespass- I'll have to check them out.

Garmont periodically puts out a vegan boot or hiking shoe. I have been pretty pleased with mine (Nagevi, I think) for three -season hiking. I'm definitely on the look-out for some more heavy duty boots with goretex, suitable for rougher hikes and winter and whatnot. I have really narrow feet, so my boot choices are even further narrowed (heh) down.

I have some Garmont winter boots but when I looked at the current model they aren't vegan anymore. I'm looking for non-winter boots (mine are rated to -30F so not great for anything other than snow) and have had a hard time finding any locally that I can try on first. Sorel has made vegan winter boots but I don't know how the tread is. If you can't find a nice winter hiking boot you could maybe get away with winter boots with some yaktrax if you aren't doing really aggressive hiking.
