My husband went to get his haircut and they used a brush like this on him.

It is nice because it fluffed up his hair and made it look fuller. He would like to get one but I can't find one that doesn't use boar bristles. Am I right in assuming that when they say natural bristles it means animal hair bristles? Can anyone help?

You could try searching for nylon bristle brush... I mean, there MUST be a vegan version like that somewhere, since I have seen in stores that some have 100% boar bristles on a brush, and some brushes have a boar and nylon bristle combination. In theory, they should have a 100% nylon brush, right?

Thanks! I will look into the nylon brushes. I've looked in a bunch of stores and googled synthetic and vegan and I haven't found anything. Even the cheapest brushes are boar bristles or boar/nylon.

I found this on Amazon. I believe it's 100% nylon.

Hair is a vicious circle. You use harsh products because your hair is greasy, which then strips all the natural oils out of your hair which actually makes your hair greasier and your scalp crappier, so you use more, so you hair gets greasier...etc etc.

On the upside, it's possible to retrain your scalp. Mild shampoo, with some pure lavender oil in the bottle (about ten drops per 200ml), and a light conditioner. Wash your hair max 3 times a week with water just hot enough to get the shampoo out. Yes, for a few weeks it'll be less than fun and you'll be doing the ponytail thing a lot, but once your scalp stops being in overdrive on sebum production due to the harsh chemical stuff, it will rebalance. Short term pain for long term gain, and all that.

I used to have amazingly greasy hair. I'd wash it every day (and often again in the evening if I was going out) and it only stopped looking like I'd rubbed crisco in once I stopped being so hard on my follicles. I wash it twice or three times a week now, and it's never a total oil slick like before. Note to teenage self - listen to Mom (she's a trichologist!).
