Hey guys,

I thought it would be cool to make a thread posting items you long for that aren't vegan and have folks find alternatives! My example....

I would like this scarf, but it is made out of wool. Simple, black and white striped....but I can't find such a beast!

Oh, and yes- the book does say "Sex & Samosas"

Ballroom dance shoes! They generally have both a suede sole and lining, besides being made of leather. The suede sole helps your foot glide across the floor and the lining absorbs sweat. They should be about a 3 inch heal, strap to the ankle, and be flexible enough to point one's toes yet supportive enough to stand without collapsing. Help! I want a beautiful and functional pair of vegan dance shoes. Is that too much to ask?

Rowan, you should look on etsy! A lot of sellers do custom items so all you'd have to do is find someone who does vegan scarfs whose style you like and request it.

I was thinking about getting some from Step One - website is here - http://www.steponedanceshoes.com/vegan_dance_shoes

Also, I found these tap shoes if they're of interest to anyone - http://www.alternativestores.com/ethica ... t_226.html

This is a great idea for a thread!

A quick search for the black and white scarf gave me these two options (unfortunately not from etsy or an independent store):

http://www.amazon.com/Soft-Knit-Striped-Scarf-Black/dp/B001LA4IJM no tassels on that one though...

http://www.scarfworld.com/online_store/white-and-black-winter-scarf-striped.cfm?sCurrencyCode=USD&utm_medium=google_shopping&utm_source=google&utm_campaign=google_shopping_usa and this one has a different type of stripes

I have a set of throwing knives and a really nice camping knife and I would love to find some high quality non-leather sheaths for them. Right now they just sit on my bookshelf which isn't ideal for when I actually take them somewhere to throw or go camping.

Ha! We throw at old planks of wood, not people. It's actually really fun and meditative, but everyone thinks it's really weird, and I guess it is.

Can you give a seminar on knife throwing at the next VVC?

If I have the balls to smuggle my knives into the US, sure! It's probably a must-have skill for vegan bloggers.

Rowan, I don't see anything on her shop right now, but my boyfriend's mum is pretty good with knitting. You may be able to talk her into making a custom scarf. I think some of her stuff is with soy/synthetic yarns as well. http://www.etsy.com/shop/VermontHomespun

Zomg! This is exactly what I've been looking for! I've only googled vegan ballroom dance shoes like a million times. Why did these never come up for me? Thank you, thank you, thank you Ruby Rose!

Awesome!! I need some decent dance shoes too, the ones I wear have grips on the bottom and are absolutely no good at all!

Ruby Rose - you can get them from a UK site too and they're a bit cheaper (I think they worked out at about £95 from the US site and they're £82 on here) http://www.ethicalwares.com/vegan-veget ... black.html

Has anybody ever found a vegan feather duster? I mean, one that looks like this, except vegan:

It is a matter of utmost importance for devious future plans.

This sounds fun. But sadly I can't help, vegan feathers alone are hard to find.

Does anybody know of some boots that look similiar to these?
Image
What I like about them: Two tone, laced up (no zipper), detail (fringe and design). I know the chances are slim but I might as well ask.

Has a zipper and no detail, but ... they look similar? I own these, I like 'em a lot.

Not a feather duster per se but a duster that performs the same task made by the people that make Swiffer products. Found in the grocery aisle near the Swiffer products.
http://www.swiffer.com/products/swiffer-dusters

This won't help if you are going for the panache sort of thing with the duster like for a maid's outfit or what not.

Would work if it is a hint for a less than tidy roomie or some such.

Swiffer dusters are the best. I use them all the time. Unfortunately, this has to look like a traditional feather duster because of reasons. Thanks, though.
