I think ED might be gone for good.

ETA: Yep, wikipedia tells me that ED as we know it is gone and it's been replaced with a watered down, less mean version. Who wants that?

What is ED?

This whole glitter sniffer thing is really quite sad. She sounds like a horrible person, who may possibly have some sort of mental illness, but clearly she is rather brilliant at social networking and branding. She built herself what seems like a remarkably successful small business in a short amount of time. It is a shame that she squandered all of that talent and opportunity and built it all up on unethical practices. It is even sadder that after everything that has come to light that she still seems to have customers and supporters.

And tragic that this whole thing has probably resulted in a lot of loss of trust for other, ethical, great indie makeup brands.

Yeah, Oh Internet is like a poorly fleshed out version of knowyourmeme.com. Old, nasty ED was much better.

Of course, justice won't be served until she's either arrested or actually y'know, gives everyone their money back.

I'm worried that she'll just start a new company. I have doubts that anyone will get their money back from her.

Oh, I know that. I'm saying that her finally running out of people to sell to and ways to sell out of them is great, but the ideal would be legal action against her, either her facing charges or getting sued.

I was the one contacted by phone by the FDA. he only told me about the pinks-but I know more were recalled than just that so now I wonder what's going on with that-and why I was contacted at random-it's not like my last name starts with an A or anything. It'll be interesting to see if more customers will be contacted since she should be in deep doodoo for not following procedures.

Great news! I hope the FDA really throws the book at her.

Actually, they aren't being sold because her google checkout account has already been suspended because of the amount of people who filed complaints against her!

I've never purchased from this company, but those bath bombs look more like mold samples than anything.

I really like independent companies that have consistent branding. I don't love the name of the company, but I do like the branding and the emphasis on transparency. I don't buy loose eyeshadows very often, but if she ever expands to other products, I might try it. I also find it interesting that the eyeshadows have carnauba wax in them.

I wish her the best for her company. The situation with GS certainly doesn't mean that all independent makeup companies are untrustworthy.


On another note, the GS bath bombs look pretty disgusting.

This made me laugh. I didn't find them to be the most pleasing pictures either.

i kind of feel uncomfortable reading the complaints blog.
i do not feel sorry for the owner, but she is obviously mentally ill. i dont know, i dont think that absolves her from responsibility or anything even remotely close. then again, i never bought anything from her so i dont feel deceived and conned like many people [rightfully] do.

This is just how I feel, too. I don't feel like she shouldn't be held responsible, but I feel like she is mentally ill and got in way over her head.

There may be a component of mental illness, however, the pattern of repeated behavior and wriggling to evade responsibilities, and the dangerous consequences of her actions, including severe eye injuries, is really worrying.

The complaints blog is, I suppose trying to draw enough awareness that new avenues for her to continue in are cut-off. From what I've see of the fan page, she has/had a sizable almost cult-like following. It is amazing to me that so many people apparently placed repeat orders without ever getting any orders fulfilled. Just consider that once her Etsy and Paypal were shut down, she apparently moved on to Google checkout and a new site. The chilling part is the unsanitary conditions and unsafe pigments, and if someone doesn't keep on top of her, I can't see any outcome other than her continuing the same pattern ad nauseum until something finally happens.

Which is my long-winded way of saying that I don't think the complaints blog is mean-spirited or out of line, but kind of necessary.

I actually bought a sample pack to play around with when I was trying to learn how to apply eye makeup. When it arrived, I didn't feel great about it and never even opened the shipping envelope; Ive still got it somewhere. I'm so glad I didn't because I have insanely sensitive skin, especially around my eyes.

I do not think she is mentally ill, just a con artist. She obliviously only cares about the $...

Okay, I take back what I said before. This person is bonkers and is totally a con artist.

I don't understand how somebody can be so careless with the health of other people without facing any consequences (legally, I mean).

This is my feeling too - it's almost as if someone has to actually lose their sight before someone will actually do something.
