How would you like to have a multinational chain of vegan friendly restaurants just about wherever you go ?

Five minutes of your time can help make that a reality.

Compassion Over Killing has a campaign to get the international chain of Subway sandwich shops to begin carrying vegan mock meats.

Just follow the link and leave a comment to help make this happen:

That is an awesome idea! I personally am not going to support Subway, because of their corporate practice of exploiting franchisees (see Fast Food Nation for more), but I would definitely follow the link.

Why Subway is the biggest problem in franchising

I think I'd prefer if Subway just had hummus. C'mon, how hard is that?

I would love for Subway to have a falafel sandwich! I'm not a fast food consumer most of the time, but Subway is good in a pinch.

Falafel sandwich!!!

I honestly just don't trust Subway enough to do something like tofurkey slices besides not being a big fan of them. "Hey Jimmy, we are out of the tofurkey" "Go ahead and just use the regular, they'll never know"

I do not care for Subway, I think it is a ripoff that they charge $5 for the veggie sub just like all the other Subs. At least with Chipotle (which I used to go to a lot but not any longer due to sodium) they give you guac in your veg burrito.

About twice a year I find myself starving in some tiny town, so I think the more mainstream vegan options available the better. I'm not a big Subway fan, and would avoid eating there if I had any other options. But I don't think it's really about me. I think COK is on the right track with these kinds of campaigns; the easier veganism is for the average Subway loving American then more people will strongly consider going vegan.

After watching me pull out my own slices a few times to make my sandwich better, my Subway never charges me for avocado! The manager/owner made some "rule" that veg subs with no cheese get free avocado if they want it, and he told me it was because he felt bad I had to add something of my own to a sandwich from his shop. Awws.

Avocado at Subway? I wish they had that at my Subway.

Except the mock meats that they're asking Subway to carry aren't internationally available... Also, it's Subway.

i dunno, you watch them put every single thing onto your sandwich, so i don't think there's much chance of that happening and turkey and tofurkey really don't look anything alike. i haven't eaten there in a while, but I'd definitely be into having tofurkey slices at subway for emergency situations.

I would be good with a vegan pattie.

It would be nice knowing it is there when I travel and there is nothing else in the area.

Compassion Over Killing has just announced that they have had some success with their campaign to persuade Subway to begin offering vegan options.

A limited number of their restaurants in Canada, Maryland, Washington D.C. and Virginia will be experimenting with offering vegan some vegan sandwiches:

If anything I just wish they had real salad options. My dorm gave me a meal ticket there one time and I got a salad... it was iceberg lettuce and tomatoes.

I think it's a cool idea. Like most of us, I wouldn't go out of my way to eat there, but it's great having options on road trips, and it makes veganism seem more accessible to non-vegans. There are people who's minds are still blown when I say I'm having lunch at Chipotle!

Thats great. I do like Subway, since I travel a lot. Also i have an Omni partner, and this is a good eating-out option for us. I have signed this petition before.

Although to be honest, not sure I would like the options that much. I cant really see them..the black bean is morningstar right? thier black bean burger is just ok. Cant tell about the malibu. Riblets sound gross. I dont want a BBQ sandwich, but thats just me.

I would rather have hummus! If I get a sandwich and take it home, i either add hummus or tofurkey.

If I cant do either of those, i would order avacado. Oh, and i ALWAYS get spinach instead of lettuce. So much better than nasty iceburg lettuce.

Togo's (think they might just be a S. Cali sandwich shop like subway) offers hummus on thier sandwiches. But it is NASTY. it tastes really artificial.
