The majority of it is vegan and says "made without animal products" on the label, which a clueless person like me really appreciates. i love Origins products, especially their mascaras. i wish i could afford it.. i will be getting myself a Lavera mascara as a treat tomorrow, i am so sick and tired of bad mascaras.

I'm not really crazy about my Origins mascara (Full Story). It's ok, but it makes my lashes a little spiky (? can't really think of the right adjective here). Next I think I want to try Fresh supernova.

You guys seriously try Zuzu Luxe mascara. My lashes are pretty pathetic without anything on them, and this makes them curl and full and no clumping! You have to put on multiple coats, but that is with any mascara.

Is Zuzu only available online? Because I wanted to try it based on your gorgeous lashes on your Cruelty Free Face site, Melisser, but Zuzu's website doesn't show stores?

I thought the Zuzu was way too clumpy, and it flaked like crazy for me. I am clearly impossible to please! Really I just want to find the vegan version of my pregan favorite, which was perfect.

You can find ZuZu at Whole Foods, Pharmaca and I am sure some other natural food stores. It has not flaked on me yet, my tube is about three months old. Like I said I have sad lashes, and this stuff really makes them pop and curly. I want to try Origins mascara with their primer (if that is vegan) for extra thick lashes.

Yeah, I've tried Zuzu, and it wasn't for me. That may be at least in part because I don't know what the hell I'm doing, so maybe I'm just globbing it on and not properly layering or something.

Darn it, I was just at WF today- I didn't check the PPK before I went! Thanks for the tip, la vie sale. I'll check mine next time I'm there; I hope they have it. What was your pregan favorite mascara, Amy? I'd love to find my pregan equivalent, also. Maybe there is a niche for someone to fill- figuring out the vegan equivalent for mascaras- it would make life a little easier!
Jordan, do you like the Origins so far?

Zuzu flaked for me, too. Not a fan. I really like Korres, though, since it gives me more of a natural look and separates my lashes insanely well.

I reallyreally want to try the Zuzu Luxe mascara. Does anyone want to swap a couple of tubes of BarryM mascara (or anything else I can get here!) for a tube of ZL? PM me if so...
(thanks hana for the swap idea!)

Zuzu is super thick, maybe too thick, so it takes some patience to get it on. I scrape the excess off in the neck of the bottle as I pull the brush out, and if there's still some gobs left, I scrape it on the mouth of the bottle. Then to apply, I do a simultaneous side to side and twisting motion. Start at the base of your lashes and wiggle the brush side to side to "dig" the bristles between the lashes, then roll the cap between your fingers as you move toward the ends of the lashes. It sounds complicated, possibly because I'm doing a shitty job of explaining it, but it's easy once you get the hang of it. My right eye is easier than my left, too, because the twisting motion is a bit difficult with the wrist bent back.

Yep, you gotta scrape the excess off, until it starts to dry out a bit, then it's not so bad. I also hated Lavera. It did nothing!

Decisions, decisions... What are you looking for in a mascara? Volume with no flakiness. Waterproof vs. non-waterproof is not an issue.

melisser wrote: Lavera just felt watery for me, like a stain with no volume or lengthening. Zuzu Luxe is like BAM! Thick, coated, longer lashes. It does take a bit of work not to put on too much. This is what i need to know! I've been using this e.l.f. stuff, but it is underwhelming and a stain-type is just not gonna cut it for me. I shall have to look into getting Zuzu Luxe (I don't have WF need me...). Sounds like the key is to apply with care so you don't overdo it and end up with flakiness. Thank you!

Another vote against Lavera. I was so excited to get it, and I was really, really underwhelmed.

Got Zuzu Luxe yesterday. Tried it this morning. LOVE IT so far. Didn't have difficulty applying it, it looks great, and it is a great day to test out how it holds up (rainy, humid, gross outside) in the elements. Will report back.
Good luck finding your perfect mascara, Amy. That is a positive way to look at it, but I hope you find it sooner!

i have heard tales that two of the clinique mascaras are vegan: the high length mascara, and the lash doubling mascara. i haven't tried either one yet, but i'm kind of tempted.
