Is it new in the box? I would just go buy it at Macy's for $23 and have them throw in a bunch of free samples. Or, splurge on a couple at Chanel.com and get tons of samples, super cool packaging, and little canvas Chanel drawstring bags that are great for holding things in your purse. (shipping at Chanel.com is $7.95, but there shouldn't be tax)

From what I can tell, the OPI Russian Navy seems a fairly decent dupe, but I tell you, nobody does that satiny smooth finish like Chanel. If you already have RN though, definitely see BS in person before splurging. I have an older limited edition sheer sparkly blue called Azur Satin that is gorgeous on top of BS.

If you want to see insanity though, check out some of the other Chanel prices on ebay, like for Jade*, Kaleidoscope, Nuit de Russie, etc. People are silly. I saw people paying $60+ for Nouvelle Vague this summer when you could still get it from Chanel.com for $23.

*This makes me sad because I was unable to get a bottle of this. My collection has a huge gaping hole where Jade should be.

hmm, the listing says it's unused, & new in box... but it also says things like 'ultra-rare' and 'limited edition color now sold out' and similar scary-sounding rhetoric. but i can still just get this at a macy's? if so, that might be the more practical approach, heh. thanks!

Yeah, that is hyperbole. It *is* a limited edition color that is sold out in many stores, but I have seen it around. You may have to call around to a couple places, but it is around. Saks, Neimans or Nordstroms might have it online also. I just really hate the ebay sellers because they snatch up all the hot colors and drive up demand. But it is limited, so it will be definitely be increasingly more difficult to find.

I have a theory also that many people assume that the stuff costs more than it does, which would explain some of the prices. It is expensive, but it actually isn't much more than most of the premium brands.

I have an older sparkly deep blue called Cosmic Blue that is gorg, and a really special one called Nuit de Ciel that was a Seventeen magazine exclusive maybe 10 years ago. I've seen that one on ebay for $150+, but mine is kind of gummy now (glittery ones don't seem to last the way the others do) so I can't imagine what you would be getting. I want to try some restorer in it, but I'm also afraid of making it worse.

My right hand nails chips within a day, my left hand nails within 2-3 days. I re-do the top coat daily and that seems to help


Yay! And I clip mine into an oval shape and do not use a file because I read/was told it weakens nails but I have no idea if that's true.

I love this thread! I used to be really into nails in high school. I'd pierce my pinky nail and put jewelry in it. It was getting out of hand when I had these horrible acrylic nails that I'd change the colors everyday depending on my outfit.

Anyway, this really makes me want to paint my nails and get into that stuff again.

Nail clippers are bad! They can cause splitting. Get a glass file (Sephora has a good one for $8). You can wash them in hot water to keep clean, and they aren't harsh on your nails. Just file in one direction.

I keep mine sort of squoval, but I try to only neaten the natural shape of my nail rather than forcing a shape.

I just bite them into the shape I want. Which, fortunately, is short and haggard.

It's really pretty. I love dusty, grayed out colors for fall. It's sort of a dusty mauve pink. Unfortunately, Illamasqua Jan is a virtual dupe, which I didn't realize until I got home. So now I have both, for no good reason. D'oh.

Really? :/ I get layers that I can peel off the tops of my nails but no splitting.

And I did my toe nails & finger nails with Zoya Tangy, it's very greeeeeeeen!

Orange Fizz is a lovely orange sherbet color. Jade Rose is a baby pink, which means I actually don't own it.

Me too! I haven't really worn nail polish since high school. Now wearing Chanel Surprise - can't find a pic online, but it's a pale shimmery white goldish colour. I want to get a bunch of purples.
