Pink Purple and Melon... Because I was bored.

Oh crepe, a polish thread. I have a ridiculous amount of nail polish, and I've been thinking about starting a vegan nail care blog - in between skating roller derby and all the other crepe I do.

I was actually just going to make a post asking what are some good vegan nail polishes, then I came across this. Are Zoya and OPI are all vegan? Have any of you tried PeaceKeeper polish?

All nail polishes by OPI are vegan except the ridge filler. It has silk.

But, they are releasing too many colors this year! Honestly, I think I've bought more in the past 6 months than in the previous 2 years. At least I funded the last two sets (Khakis and SoHo) with some nice Amazon book sales. Unwanted textbooks into nail polish = win.

Of course, I'll buy this one anyway, but I thought it would be a spring 2011 release. Since when are they releasing a makeup Cruise collection? Especially right on the heels of Holiday.

I can probably justify this as a bribe though: study for physics praxis and GRE, and I get to blow $20 on nail polish. God knows I need some kind of shallow motivating factor to get my butt in gear on these.

I am hoping that this is similar to my beloved Crystal Blue. I have a small bit of that bottle left, but it is almost 10 years old and a bit thick; also very sheer. It apparently sells for over $100 on ebay on the rare occasions that a bottle comes available.

You guys inspired me to start painting my nails again. Or try to anyway, I am not that good at it. I just ordered these 2 colors:

Those look nice. I've been combining two sort of similar colors (Rouge Fatal and Rose Confidential) in a mani/pedi combo. I am so in love with Rouge Fatal, but keeping the light one on my hands is easier to maintain.

i was unable to resist temptation, and i sprung for the blue satin chanel earlier this week when i was at macy's. i think i'm going to try it out this weekend, yay!

I'm happy to be such a bad influence! Make sure you use either one perfect thick coat or two very, very thin coats, else it will lose some of the blue sheen and become too black.

I just got this one in the mail yesterday. I love it, it is a bit darker and vampier in person. Little annoyed at the cost of shipping from zoya though

I am wearing Gondola on my left hand and Vendetta on my right. Neat: I found a photo with both. I did Gondola on my toes.


I think I found out that Vendetta has carmine though, but since I no longer have the box and it is an older color, I'm not sure how to verify. I'll still use it anyway since I already own it. Vendetta is super dark and vampy, but you can still tell that it is purple. Gondola has a really cool glassy glitter below the surface.

I've got OPI black onyx on again. I love it: it's a simple clean black cream finish. If I keep it up and fix any chipping, it treads the line between high fashion and street fashion nicely.

Does OPI not use guanine? Other than the obvious additives of silk and whatnot, that's really the one sneaky non-vegan item that finds its way into some shimmery shades.

I just looked at the ingredients of the OPI bottle sitting next to me and that's not listed, BUT if the shimmer is from a supplier, then it's possible for it to be in the polish and for the polish not to mention it, right? That's why I stick with vegan brands and brands reported to be vegan. So Lipmann polishes are vegan? I love Happy Birthday, but I have never gone near their polishes since I have never found any info about them being vegan

No, they don't, I asked about guanine.

Bad Romance is on my Christmas list with lots of exclamation points and instructions on where to buy it.

Eta: I haven't seen guanine on Chanel boxes; I think they mostly use varying finenesses of mica or synthetics. I've only been checking the last 2 years though.

I don't think it's a very common ingredient any more. OPI said they used to use it, but only in 19 colors out of 1500 and then they discontinued all use and won't use it again, so there's obviously something superior out there.
