I ordered one and I'm super happy with how it looks! Can't wait to actually get my grabby hands on it so I can show Celesticat how fancy it is.

Do you do dogs too? Because if you do, I have found Christmas presents for my whole family!

I can try a dog. My concern with them is that so much of their look is in the snout and in some cases the shaggy fur (which I can't replicate with eco-felt). If you have a photo to send me, I can look at it and see if it looks do-able.

I have like ten photos, besides Brian and I, we are a dog family! On the plus side, my sister-in-law has chinese crested mutts that are practically hairless anyway. On the down side, I was thinking of the pets we all lost last year also and her last dog was one of those little dust mop lookin' things with the squished faces.

Would this doggy be too difficult to replicate?

I'm going to try some dogs this week and see what I come up with. I will post back here with results.

Miss Tilly, who does not look at the camera. My first puppy attempt. She's a schipperke, so her fur was short enough to work. Andi, I'm not sure how I would replicate your pup. I've also been looking at photos of Fawkes on google plus too, and I don't know how to get the fur texture. (without using fake fur which my machine does not handle). But I will scout around and see if anything comes up.

This is awesome! I have 2 (short haired!) dogs and a kitty who I will be getting you to recreate in Christmas ornament form!

If anyone has any suggestions on how you would like your shaggier dog sewn, let me know. I'm happy to try things out. Sometimes I get too into the craft and can spend 10 hours hand stringing fur when there's a 5 minute solution.

I'll need to take better pictures of my tortie. I know you said you didn't have any orange but I think that brown you have would be a good substitute for a tortie/calico, or at least for lola as her orange is intermixed with her black. Can you create a meezer? She has blue eyes:

Yes, get me a good lola photo! I think the coppery brown I found would work well for her.

I think just using different shapes would work - a triangle for non-shaggy dogs and a trapezoid for shaggy dogs, since that's kind of what shape their heads end up being with the fur. And then there are pugs and the like, they're still round and have no snout.

MBM has a great idea. I wouldn't worry so much about replicating the fur. Their personality can come through without it. Fawkes is really not that much furrier in the face than Miss Tilly is.
I will send you a photo of my sister's mighty dog army!

Today I am working on monster ornaments and candy corn making and blog/computer/etsy/eBay catch up. I have set aside tomorrow for all cat and dog ornament work and I will try to get Andi's dog and a Fawkes made and post back here.

I seem to be fixated on the Fawkes (Fox!). MBM, if there's a dog in mind you want to work on instead send me a photo.

If you google 'origami dogs', you can get ideas for dog faces that are flat. I don't think they need a big snout to get the personality across! http://www.google.com/search?q=origami+ ... 2gWSzpDCDgThis is Wookie (RIP), he has a round head, flopped ears, a smushed face, and his tongue was always out because he couldn't breathe otherwise: This is one of my sister-in-laws funny looking dogs, the other one is from the same litter but has much less face fur and it's pretty much all brown: Although this is far from my favorite picture of Chester, here is a good example of triangle head: And I always groomed Bonny pretty short, so her head was like a triangle with the bottom point cut off, and two huge triangles for ears. I uh...have more but that seems like more than a good enough start.
