Vegan Mofo 2011! Coming in October...

Meilay- Mofo is a time for celebrating vegan food it doesn't have to be perfect, and more importantly you don't have to be perfect. There are always a ton of people blogging for the first time. Taking great pictures takes a long time to learn, but you will never learn unless you try!

Well, there's spinach. And close to christmas there will be kale. Otherwise... nothing. Next year I will fill my balcony with pots for growing it myself!

I travel a lot, and I'm shy about taking out the big camera in restaurants, so a lot of my photos are edited iPhone photos. If you have natural light, and can take photos of your food or leftovers in it, great. Otherwise, I think people care more about tasty food than perfect composition or lighting.

I wouldn't worry about it. It's about community, and veganism, not perfect photos. Just do your best! There's some cool photo editing stuff for the iPhone, too. Instagram, camera+, photoshop apps You can hide a myriad of flaws with some creative effects.

I just registered a blog name because I really want to do this this year and not having a blog name I like has stopped me for the past two years. So I thought long and hard for two years and now I have one. I don't even want to do a theme, I just want everyone to read about my boring food because they love me. And because my blog name is so great.

meilay, I live in Northern Europe and pretty much only cook (and therefore photograph) at night and have a shitty 6-year-old digital camera and shaky hands. My photos suck. This will be my 3rd MoFo, and they haven't improved at all. It's more about the community and the sharing of vegan awesomeness than impressive food photography.

So, I've been thinking for a while about starting a blog and Vegan Mofo might be the perfect time to do so. There is sort of a dearth of visible fat vegans, and not many people within veganism talking about Health At Every Size. I think it would be interesting to explore the intersection of fat acceptance and veganism, since I don't see a lot of overlap between those groups. I'm probably going to call it My Big Fat Vegan Life.

You totally don't have to! A lot of people only post during the week. Plus, what I like to do is have a few posts ready before hand.

Also, if you really want to post but don't have time, there's always surveys that go around and other memes.

I think I am going to do this and only post on weekdays. Part of me wants to take back that I said I would do this, I am scared. I am not a blogger!

Do the food pics you post have to just be of meals you've made yourself? Can it be a vegan meal you had at a restaurant? I like to do restaurant reviews occasionally and wonder if this would count?
