This is my first MoFo! Sooo excited. My theme is going to be Raw+Vegan+Gluten-Free Fall inspired recipes. A new one every day. I went with this because I'm involved in a gettin' healthy challenge on another site that starts on October 1st.

I want to make a few days of the weeks special:
-One day I get with my meat-a-holic brother, and we veganize a dish we used to eat together that doesn't normally get veganized. We've done this before. Next on the list is a Beef On Weck, Tenderloin Sandwich (Western MO style), Goldsboro-style pork BBQ sandwich...
-A what-to-eat-if-you-live-in-a-rural-midwest-farm-community-and-can't-make-the-drive-to-the-city day
-cross-cultural experimentation day. Asian Stir-fry burritos, chana masala sandwiches, time to go wild!!
-cook in a friend's kitchen

Tami and I are going to be joint MoFo'ers this year. We had the idea for the blog anyway but we'll launch it for MoFo. We're cooking our way through both of the Horizons books in honour of the restaurant closing.

I think since the veganism is already such a contrast, why not take it a step further and make super tiny meals?

I'm thinking of each week doing a different "1 food 5 ways" like they do in vegetarian times. And then weekends could be random posts.
The ingredients that I'm thinking on are: cashews kale sweet potatoes navy beans mushrooms lentils chickpeas
Any other ideas?

I'm doing the cute Hallowe'en treats for kids idea! And, I'm doing it 100% gluten free, and as many of them as possible raw.

I'm doing an Ingredients I've Never Tried Before challenge. Yesterday I went to an Indian grocery and got jackfruit, tomato chatpat sauce, hot paprika pulp, pomegranate molasses, rose water, a kind of lentils I've never tried, and some Pakistani green chili sauce. Planning a trip to the gigantic Asian market this weekend, and planning to order a bunch of stuff online too.

Ooh that sounds awesome. I have an unopened bottle of Pakistani green chilli sauce too; can't wait to see what you do!

There will be lots more quirky this year. It is all I can do. I'm looking forward to more quirky Panda! I loved your posts last year! What about meals from books? I'm thinking about doing a few of these. I've thought about taking photos of everything I eat, every day, and doing some sort of collage. I'm kind of afraid of the "that's so much/little!" comments, though. I'm hoping it will force me to eat more interesting things.

dtbk, I actually like that idea because it makes me realize that everybody doesn't eat completely interesting things every moment of the day. Maybe it will make some of us amateurs feel less inadequate. Unless you do end up eating completely amazing and interesting things every moment in which case it will make us feel worse.

By "books," I meant novels and such, not cookbooks. deearess, I eat a lot of toast and smoothies. I feel like I'd make more of an effort if I was on camera, although I tend to only cook one, maybe two fancy things a week! By fancy I mean not toast.

I really wanted to take on a dedicated idea, like a month of restaurant recreations or happy hour pairings or a cookbook challenge or two, but I can't decide. at the very least, my theme will be local produce and eating by default, but that's nothing new! help, mofo!
I could go with a creepy theme, like imaginary meal dates with fictional characters... or a month of blogging from my cats' perspective.

Ok, now I'm thinking my theme will be food inspired by songs with food names. I'm going away a weekend or two in there, so those will be free form/travel related. Now I just need to pick my songs, and the recipes or dishes I'll make.
