Mine is definitely a work in progress, since I only got the Vegan MoFo memo about 10 minutes ago, but here's what I put as my theme:

I think I'm going to do something on foods that "elitist foodies (AKA Anthony Bourdain luvrs)" think only belong to them. Case in point: a foodie friend the other day posted on FB about eating pho, so I linked my blog (made it that same night), and then he told me that I couldn't call it Pho.
Actually, he said: "Jes: Never Pho-get that Pho is beef broth. If you make a fully non-animal-bone-rendered-until-its-soul-turned-to-delicious-broth version, I think you have to call it something else. It's like the French and their Champagne. Respect provenance, fool."

It may be that I'm still in the afterburn of anger and will be for some time, but this may be a good thing...turning his shallow-mindedmess into a positive action.

I ended up telling him that the vegan cheesecake I'm making for my party this Saturday will be known as "some soy shiitake in a pie pan" to avoid further confusion. And then I told him to Phok Off.

Like I said, work in progress and definitely open to suggestions of the kinds of foods that "foodies" eat.

My blog is a mix of my art, i.e. full-time job plus baking/cooking adventures, so I have tried to keep a balance the last two years during mofo with little food doodles and paintings alongside all the food porn and recipes. I want to continue that this year, but I was contemplating some sort of 31 food paintings in 31 days challenge. Thinking about putting these said paintings up for sale daily and donating 100% of profit to an animal charity at the end of the month? I was thinking about smaller paintings in the $25-30 range, so that they are affordable (and doable for me to make that many in a month), but would still be a really nice donation for an animal charity to receive. I'm still thinking about different options...thoughts?

This will be my first Mofo. I am transitioning to vegan, so kind of a newbie. I have never blogged, but I have been working on rotating menus and grocery lists that are "Cook Once a Week"-able. Really, I do more of the prep work and have everything set so the meals are one pot meals with no prep work and minimal clean up. In my world of working 9+hours, commuting, and parenting I was caught juggling time for cooking dinner and time to hang with my fam.

Come check out my meal plans and lists! I would also love to see anyone else who does something similar.

I do a lot of this in real life, but it wont be the focus of my mofo this year. it will be good to see someone else's ideas though.

Ha, what a wang. Next time I'm in southern Vietnam enjoying one of the many different varieties of non-beef pho that I've had there, I'll let them know that some American guy says they need to change their disrespectful, inauthentic menus. I bet it'll go down just super.

Yeah, I was pretty taken aback. And he's one of my "cooler" friends who always chats with me about veganism, so this was totally off track. I'm still a bit peeved about it. I tried to be all "hey guys, I made the same thing you ate but in my own way!" and he was all "F your food, it's not real." Whatevs.

But I was thinking of some foods I could cook along these guidelines: reubens, "boeuf" bourguignon, something made like ceviche, roe (could use tomato seeds instead). Could be a lot of fun. And I've been renaming my food lately, since this initial dismissal happened, which is fun. I'll say I'm making something like "some beans and shiitake" for chili, to avoid any confusion. What a tool.

I'm doing different theme days--one is Cooking 101. I had no idea that some very accomplished people don't know basic things about cooking, for example what types of spices to use if you want "mexican" or "italian" flavors.

I'm also going to get my professional chef friend to teach me how to brunoise so that everything looks gorgeous (and the lesson will also be part of Cooking 101).

If there's anything else you want to learn from a professional chef I'll ask him & it'll be part of the MoFo.

I'd love to see a pro chef do a vegan roux and have it photographed though the colour stages and what to aim for for gumbo.

Yes! I'd forgotten about Turkish delight!
I have enough ideas now for several MoFos!

I meant to say earlier that I love this too. I love your paintings, and if it's for charity then I'd pretty much have to buy something.

Looking for an idea? Maybe you would enjoy making the dishes from my Veganize It! column in VegNews Magazine! There are 17 recipes available, which would get you most of the way through MoFo. If needed, I'd be happy to help you with ideas for the other 3 (or more if you're going for 31). All of my recipes are in the categories of Healthy/Whole Foods and Comfort Foods. While they aren't all quick to make, they are whole-food based and easily made gluten-free crowd pleasers (have you tried my Mac 'n Cheese?).

I can also offer you a give-away to pair with this. Let me know if you're interested!

This is what I wanted to do last year but I failed a little bit, so this year I decided to keep my blog routine and since last months I was blogging about cooking through vegan/vegetarian cookbooks I will continue doing this only for MoFo I choose only Polish books.

I thought it would be totally bad asparagus if someone did a MOFO blog of a person that would not likely go vegan and pretend they did. Example: Ted Nugent, Paula Deen, Dick Cheney, etc. You could write from their perspective with a change of heart. Imagine any of the three being moved after seeing Forks Over Knives or Food Inc. I dare someone to do this. Double Tofu Dog Dare you.

31 days of spices! A different spice is featured each day. I already have a theme so, feel free to take that one.
