A lot of people have trouble thinking about what to blog about for 31 days, so let's put up some ideas! (I checked to see if there was a thread from last year and it appears that there's not.) Okay, so! The first time I had...(tofu, tempeh, nooch, etc.) Veganized family favorites Halloween since it's October! Show off your pantry/kitchen Your favorite kitchen appliance Your favorite recipes for x ingredient (anything from tofu to kelp to panko) Veganism on a budget Product reviews Cooking through a cookbook, join in on the Cookbook Challenge, mayhap? What Do Vegan Eat - stuff that you eat all the time, I think it would be awesome if lots of people did this so there would be a ton of info when people google 'what does a vegan eat?' Youtube videos - Mo did a few last year, I think it would be cool if someone did an all video-blogging MoFo. Your food experiences when you first went vegan That's a start! Pile on those ideas!

Veganized national/regional food! I'm doing it, and I know a couple of other people have done it or are doing it this year.

I want to focus on street food since I love it a lot. Food from movies/TV shows could be cool. I saw an omni blog where someone made meals from the Simpsons (64 slices of American cheese!). It was equal parts gross and amusing.

I have thought about doing a baking blog because JohnP has me on a crazy bread baking kick. I love the idea of a blog on recipes for food X. Someone could take up the idea from the Noochy Noodle and pick one dish and create a month of different approaches to that.

I also kind of want to do a 'pairing food with different beers' thing. Maybe next year, if I sufficiently detox in preparation.

I have two ideas so far and they are both kind of a way to get me to be less wasteful:
-each week make recipes centered around an "unusual" spice from my pantry that I bought for one recipe and have never used again (e.g., fennel, fenugreek, sumac, lavender) -come up with ways to use parts of veggies I usually discard (carrot tops, corn husks/silk/cobs, broccoli stems)
and if I don't have time to do that, I'll just post what I've been making from the cookbook challenge thread!

I'm a chronic spice-hoarder so I would definitely read to find out more about how to use them all.

Someone did a "cooking from my pantry" project where they cooked through their supply of basic food stuff and food they already had. I really loved Vegan Iron Chef (I hope were doing that again). Similar note, a few summers back and friend and I had planned to build a 'wheel o'mystery' with different ingredients that we would spin and then make a meal with. Similar ideas could include getting suggestions or a randomizing program. I think it would also be cool to pick a kitchen appliance or other tool that you maybe don't use to often and try and show case it all month or maybe do a different tool a week. Bare-minimum vegan cooking: similar idea but using less appliances or ingredients? Maybe try cooking without the stove? or only in the oven or something similar. Raw food day that tofu 666 does is super interesting.
My theme so far is Sesame Street. I'm trying to do letter of the day, so for example A=Appetite for Reduction and then 3 dishes that begin with A from that cookbook and I'll see how far along I can get without super cheating.

I like weird stuff. This year I'm doing a different theme for each day of the week. For instance, Mandy Moore Movie Mondays. I'm still trying to think about what I'm doing for Halloween. I refuse to do another haunted gingerbread, though.
My favorite themes last year were: around-the-world eats, veganizing omni shiitake, retro cooking, and quirky things (like Panda's tablescapes).

Someone should do 30 days of internet recipes that are great for bakesales! I can never decide what to make
I also thought it would be fun to make recipes that I bookmarked in other veganmofos past and never made.
I can't believe no one has done a Star Trek theme, if I hadn't already picked something.....

I think a Veganmofo past would be neat.

I'm going to try to cook through some of the recipes I've starred in Google Reader & never gotten around to making.

I really like this idea. I have no idea where to start with that one, but I might pick it up for half of mofo. I was thinking of veganising UK foods, which I thought could be fun since I've never really been an advocate of my nation's cuisine and maybe I can change my own mind. But we honestly don't have THAT many traditional dishes, so I might not be able to stretch it out for the whole month.

Other stuff I thought of on the bus this morning:
Some kind of fusion theme? Put a bunch of different nationalities (French, Vietnamese, etc) or different types of food (pasta, casserole) in a hat, pull two out and make something with influences from both.
A fashion-y thing? I have a ton of vintage dresses and it could be cool to make foods inspired by the colours or prints of a different one each day. Like olive tapenade pizza for the one with the olive tree print. I might do this as an ongoing blog theme (only partially because it enables my spending).
Starbucks theme! Make vegan versions of their treats. I just say this because I've been meaning to make a vegan version of the glorious espresso brownies they used to have when I worked there.

How about favourite vegan products, what made you go vegan, a book or film that really influences you as a vegan, activism-centred posts, or favourite vegan meals/restaurants in your hood?

Vegan Coloradical is doing it, and since we're a state-specific blog, it would be cool to do a local theme. Vegan products that are locally produced, local veggie farms, veganizing Colorado dishes, etc. Mostly I just want to do posts on Justin's peanut butter cups, the magical Cocomels, and Denver Tofu. I am hoping Denver Tofu will let us come inside and tour the facility (and then we could make an 80s style info video!).

I have a stack of 30+ vegan zines that I just love, but they are pretty ignored. I hope to brush them off, archive them and then at the end of the month give them a permanent and organized home on my blog.
