The term "MoFo" is apparently offensive to some???

I was looking at a local vegan Facebook page and people found the term "MoFo" to be offensive...their brains went to MotherF*cker and not Month of Food...

I was totally blown away by this and think some people are being babies about it, they've even gone so far as to not read blog posts, try recipes, share on FB, etc. (that just seems totally dumb, there are so many awesome posts!)

PPK, what are your thoughts? I am just insensitive or are these vegans whack?

Those are the kind of vegans that I don't want to affiliate with...why go out of your way to alienate a group of fun loving vegans, trying to spread the word and inform others about a really great lifestyle??

I actually had to have somebody ask me about the usage of it before I even went there. That was last year. She wasn't offended, just found it funny.
I don't like the *other* term that mofo stands for, but my gosh...lighten up.

I think they're ridiculous, but then again I'd never seen that use of the term before (and it makes no sense to me). If you google "mofo" the first hit is a law firm.

Someone wrote a really hilariously offended blog post about how Vegan MoFo was super sexist either last year or the year before. If people can't get over it, then I just don't know what to say. They must have awfully easy lives to have time to worry about such trivial stuff.

I'm totally down with the MoFo...but, to be fair, the people who are offended by the term probably feel that we are going out of our way to alienate a group of fun loving vegans (them)...so while I am personally not bothered by the term, I feel like it's relevant to at least acknowledge that some people are. I don't think anyone here is purposely trying to alienate anybody, but I have to admit, if the name for the event had a word that offended me in the name -- like, oh, I don't know, VeganFaggot? -- I would probably not want to participate.

So basically...I don't entirely agree, but I get it why they're upset.
