mofo 2012! I like themes surrounding a particular ingredient. I'm thinking of doing noodles/pasta, or maybe 1 main ingredient each week. I kind of want to explore how many different vegan cheese recipes I can make...

I figure out my theme it came to me when I was on the computer two nights ago, 30 days of pinterest recipes.

I'm thinking something like 5 (okay, 4.5) weeks, 5 (small), themed dinner parties. I could get creative, menu plan, prep, and obviously cook dishes and matching cocktails. I can only imagine that I may not feel up to worthwhile daily blogging, so I could cheat and share instagram photos for the days I don't do legit posts.

I was thinking about doing a month of jam, since I have quite a lot in my fridge, freezer and pantry and there is more to come I expect (when apples, plums, lingonberries and pears starts ripening), but I don't want to do so many sweet recipes. A month of lingonberries would be fun (there are so many Swedish dishes that is eaten with lingonberries), but it might be a bit too much lingonberries even for me. I will obviously have to think a bit more about this. But it will most likely have something to do with Swedish food and/or berries/fruit.

I love jam, but I need more ideas than PB & J and straight up toast.

I started to do this a few years back...then wound up not keeping up at all. It is a good way to get through things, though. Oooh, maybe if I start now (as in recipes, pictures, etc.) I could incorporate my Ben and Jerry's theme into a blog. Hmm, maybe four days each week devoted to a cookbook (since I have several new ones I haven't touched) and Fridays to a Ben and Jerry's copycat. I've gotta do this!

I'll definitely read this because I bet we have a bunch of the same poorly thought out purchases! I think I'm going to do MoFo/Frocktober thing, where I cook something each day that's inspired by whatever dress I'm wearing or that's somehow related to a memory of the dress. I easily have enough vintage dresses to get me through a month, I may as well make use of them somehow to make myself feel better about owning so many.

I usually do daily themes, many of which are ridiculous. Tasteless Tablescapes will return.

pannkakan wrote: So yeah, I think I've decided upon doing one month of jam! Great! Give me tips on how to use lingonberry jam. Most traditional uses tend to be rather meat-centric I suppose and I don't really eat mock meats. I eat it on the rare occasions when I make rösti, palt, or Finnish spinach pancakes. Which is to say practically never. Last time I made coffee cake with the leftovers I believe...

Another idea I have! I got this zine of Bolivian recipes, most of which are meat-heavy. I want to veganize it so we have Bolivian vegan food!

I thought of my theme right at the end of MoFo last year, and still want to stick with it... a month of ramen! Anything and everything I can possibly cook up using ramen. Playing up the whole college thing.
Option #2 was food in jars, because I saved up lots of mason jars last year with the intent of making rainbow cakes in a jar for christmas gifts, but never got around to using them. Perhaps that will be next year's theme.

I'm now thinking of a bento theme.. Pretty obvious duh. It can be quick (posting my lunchbox contents, small tips), or more time consuming (bento-friendly recipes) and fits in with my regular posts. It can be interesting for both (beginning) bentoists and (newbie) vegans.
On the other hand I'd also like to do a cookbook a week, or cooking from with semi-permanent pantry inhabitants. But those ideas can be incorporated in the bento theme as well. :)

Actually, I think I found your blog via book-related stuff, but the bentos convinced me to stay. I might have lucked out on finding it just when you were testdriving vegan. I'd love to see posts on bento readiness. Sometimes I get called in last minute and don't have anything at home, but still have to bring something or starve.

I don't have a cooking blog but I want someone to veganize Wikipedia's list of notable sandwiches. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_sandwiches

I'm looking forward to this so much! I think I will try to be 100% organic but as cheap as possible to see how low I can get with my food spending while eating delicious food at the same time... I think my blog will go english again for the month of October!

It's Vegan Month of Food (in October this year) where people blog Monday-Friday about veganism/vegan food (mostly the latter). It's about blowing up the internet showing how delicious and awesome veganism is! At least, that's my understanding..

I work at a cidery and get a couple of bottles a week for free, plus we have a competition coming up in September to see who can make the best dish with one of our ciders, so that'll be a good way to kick it off.

vijita, I really like your idea. I love cider.
For the third (possibly 4th) year in a row, I'm thinking about doing a pantry-cleaning theme - just using stuff in the pantry (apart from fresh veg). Which means, for the 3rd/4th year in a row, I'll do a bunch of other stuff. But we'll see.

I'm pretty sure I'll be doing Football Food Sunday again & I think I'll be doing Pie-day Friday too. Not 100% sure about my themes for the other days yet...

Uh-oh. Cider is one of the few things that I REALLY don't like.. :( The alcohol containing kind that is. Would be cool though if I'd find something on your blog I just MUST try! :)

I'm thinking of doing this, but I'm also kind of intimidated. I'm not a great cook, don't do anything spectacular in the kitchen, and have not yet mastered the art of food porn. I'm also too lazy too think of a theme. (Unless being too lazy to think of a theme can be a theme.)
I'm also wondering if I should revive my (now defunct) blog I had in my pregan times (which was about my adventures in wildlife care/animal ambulance work) but now with a vegan theme, or if I should just start afresh. I think the advantage of using my old blog is a lot of my non-vegan friends followed it, and a lot of them don't quite get the vegan thing (they're respectful, just don't understand it completely), and I suspect explaining my choices and posting about food I make/eat there would be a way for them to see the why and what of veganism, whereas if I were to make a new blog for mofo, the main audience will be other vegans, who are already way beyond me in cooking/food porn skills. On the other hand, the theme change might just be too weird, and my non-vegan friends will feel like they're being hit with a vegan hammer. My blog updates are announced on my FB feed, which was not a big deal when I was posting once or twice a month, but if I'm posting frequently for mofo, I could imagine friends feeling like I'm spamming them and hiding me from their feed. Maybe I'm overthinking this whole thing.
How have other people done this the first time around?
