So, I just posted a MoFo post that has a link/picture of a non vegan recipe that could be really easily veganized and doesn't look non vegan. It's a picture of olives stuffed with cream cheese to look like penguins.
Do you think this is ok? personally, it doesn't bother me, but if it bother's a lot of people, I'll take down the picture.
I just couldn't bring myself to actually make these tonight, although I may decide to make them for a party this weekend.

Thanks.

I don't think it's bad form because its not masquerading as vegan. I mean people post originals to show what they've veganized and that's not bad or offensive.

Fun fact, someone did once post a picture of those veganized once upon a time and that was my first post I ever saw here. Came for the penguins stayed for the penguins.

I don't have a problem with it. Eggs and meat are a different story, but I think this is NBD.

They are adorable! Sorry, I may not have had the mental capacity to say more than that in my comment bc SO CUTE. (Also...I might not have known that you were treetrunkskitchen! Ahhh! Mind blown/connection made/everything's cool!). Anyway, I think it's fine.

Technically, the picture is against the rules of VeganMoFo and could get your blog reported since you specified that it's not vegan food. On the off chance that I need to link to something that includes non-vegan items on the page, I just say that there are dairy options on the page i'm linking to.

Thanks, mbm, I'll take the picture down. I'm going to try to make them this weekend, so hopefully I can get a good picture and put it up!

This is what I do, too, especially since my theme this year entails veganizing recipes from (traditionally dairy and egg heavy) old-school vegetarian cookbooks. When I link to the original recipe, I always mention that the prototype has non-vegan ingredients, so the reader can click through or not.

I don't like olives either. I'm wondering if you could replace the olive parts with dark chocolate. Would toffutti and chocolate work together? Or am I just being gross.
