I've started my list of movies. I think i'm also going to do TV Tuesdays this year, i'll only do shows that have ended and then pick a menu and suggest my favorite episodes to watch if you were actually going to have a watch party and eat the food.

I don't know what my theme is. I was thinking about rounding up different Austin things like burgers or Thai food or something because people always ask me that but it sounds really boring for all the people that don't live here.

I would love to do something about animals but I can't figure out how to relate that to food. Luckily there is still time to decide.

Just put everything you make on or next to a beagle.

Well now that there are three trying to take a picture of them with food would be pretty much impossible.

Last year my theme was cockney rhyming slang and that was fun. But this year, I'm veganising Jamie Oliver's 15 minute meals and also recreating/veganising the filthy sandwiches I used to eat pregan.

is it boring just to cook out of Appetite for Reduction and, dunno, give a random rec for my favourite books/shows even though I cant find a connection between the two?

I keep seeing this thread and none of the ideas I've had in the past are interesting me right now.

One of them was to do a different themed birthday party each week (geared toward kids' parties, since I have kids), with a variety of foods that fit the theme.

One of the other ideas I had was to just document what we eat every day. But that sounds boring, and I'm not sure I'd actually follow through with a "theme" like that.

I also like the idea an earlier poster had about doing a pilaf theme, but I'm wondering if I could pull that off since I barely know how to make pilaf. I just like eating it!

I love to see what other people eat on a regular day, actually. I remember years ago Joanna did flickr collages of everything she ate every day for a month and it was fascinating. Not because she did anything special, but because it was different from what I eat but also similar. French press coffee every morning? Lots of chocolate? Oh yeah, me too.

If you (or your library) have Silk Road Cooking it has many pilaf recipes. I love that book and everything I've made from it has been great.

Oh man, yeah, actually what someone eats every day IS fascinating. Maybe I do that, too. But also try to cook out of AFR? Not sure. I just want to post every day!

I think I'm going to do a rice theme. Everything has to have rice in some form. When I looked up pilaf, I realised how versatile and awesome rice is, and there are some dishes from childhood I'd love an excuse to veganise.

But I think I'm going to use Instagram to bombard people with everything I consume, because I know that I'll be eating more than just rice ;-).

I have two: mrspinenut is the one connected with my blog. I really never use it, but may for MoFo. rosesforann is my personal one that I use all the time. I'd use the blog one more often except it's such a pain to switch between accounts.

What about cooking from AFR and going book/show/movie recommendations based on what you think fits sorts of close? A fishy tasting recipe for a book that talks about fish, a particularly "meaty" recipe for Hannibal, a simple veggie stew for Bridges of Madison County...

I love the idea of blogging about / seeing everything people eat in a day. Now I'm contemplating changing my theme!!

I can't find a theme that I like either. I asked my friends but it wasn't geared enough to my mostly baking blog:

breakfasts
appetizers
smoothies
cookies (that might be okay for me, 30 types of cookies though, eek)
picnic
20 min or less
comfort foods
7 ingredients or less
vegan beer and food pairings

hope this might help some of you, crowd sourcing flicks the weasel!

[edit] hah, "for the win" abbreviated is flicks the weasel! thanks for the laugh this am ppk, I'm keepking that!

Yeah, I thought last year the official pronouncement was that we were doing it every 11 months now to cycle it throughout the year? My birthday's in August and I was looking forward to having it in the middle of MoFo!

Looking forward to doing it whenever it is, though!

I was also thinking of doing something about animals. Mainly, terrible/wonderful food in animal shapes. I submit for your attention party elephant, if you aren't already aware? And things like hot-dog octupi.

However, I was also thinking of a doughnut theme.

Have you seen Steel Magnolias? I remember they had a red velvet armadillo cake in the movie that always creeped me out

I made a red velvet armadillo cake for a Steel Magnolias-themed bridal shower once! I really like the animal-shaped food idea. That elephant is hilarious.

I flopped big time last year, had every intention of following my theme but screwed it up on day one and it all went downhill from there. Plus I kept getting distracted by all the amazingness on other MoFo blogs...

I've got my theme set for this year, I want to make stuff you hear in hair metal kinda music (misheard lyrics included). And throw in a bit of useless trivia too. I gotta do something from Poison cos Rikki Rockett is vegan ;)
