Here are some ideas if you get vegan food writer's block.

1- What is your favorite way to prepare tempeh?
2- What's your favorite bowl to eat from?
3- What is the oldest dish that you have?
4- How organized/disorganized is your kitchen?
5- Is there a food you didn't used to like but like now?
6- When was the last time someone cooked for you? Last time you cooked for someone?
7- Have you ever made a 4 course meal?
8- What was the first recipe you ever followed?
9- Post about your dream kitchen, include links & pics.
10 - Go on a daytrip just for the food
11- Create a little cookzine and post about it.
12- What music do you listen to when you cook?
13- How do you get inspired to cook when you really don't feel like it?
14- Organize your spices and blog about it.
15- Veganize a family recipe.

Add your ideas!

I liked the Epicurious game last year! I don't remember the rules, though.

Show what's inside your fridge/freezer/pantry.
Recipe disasters.
What was your first vegan meal? Plus, food memories in general.
Do a food journal of all the food you ate on a particular day.

Yeah, the epicurious game! I really liked the recipe I got!
ETA: The rules (from a google search cache of the old ppk boards)

Isa wrote:
This might be fun for VeganMofo. It's basically picking a random recipe from Epicurious to veganize.

Go to epicurious.com and type in the name of the state you are in. For non-USers use the country you're in (any more specific and it might not work.)

After you search, the page that comes up will have a box to refine your search. It says "refine this search by..." Pick an item by doing an eeny-meeny-miney-mo with the hour of the day. So if it's around 6, count each item (there are only 8) until you reach 6. That is the category you'll be cooking in. Click it.

You'll get a little pop up that says "Select from the following." Do an eeny-meeny-miney-mo with your age. This might take a long time if you're old.

When you click that, you might have only one recipe, so that is your recipe to veganize (unless it's already vegan!) But if you have another list, then spell the day of the week out to get your recipe. So if it's Friday, you go F-R-I-D-A-Y, pointing at a recipe with each letter, and the one you land on with "Y" is yours.

Write about your culinary niche. Most foodies have at least one thing they are passionate about. For me, it's baking bread, and as a longtime McDougaller, showing people that fat-free meals are delicious and comforting.

Where does your food come from, what is local in your area, where you shop, your CSA, your garden, your trip apple picking etc

Erik Marcus (vegan.com blogger) proclaims the last Tuesday of the month as Commitment Tuesday, and he lists a bunch of different steps all sorts of readers (i.e., vegans and non-vegans) can take to be more animal-friendly and aware.

here's jewy's shitstorm of idears:

-can't remember the ppker, but i remember her talking about only making a pb sammich, because that's all she eats. don't steal this idea. i told her to start an advice column "ask a pb&j" sammich and make up letters to the sammy and make up a response.

-food fairy tales & nursery rhymes. reinvent your favorite childhood fairy tales by making a dish that surrounds the story: pooridge, gingerbread man, muffin man, jack sprat, little miss muffett, etc. go crazy!

-food gore. that's right. make a severed head cake, eyeball doughnut holes. gross us out.

-vegan on the road. this has been done, but multiple opinions and reviews are nice. talk about omni places that cater to vegans. take their pics if comfortable. tell them they're getting free publicity via your blog.

-who'd you make vegan? surely you can think of 30 people you'd like to convert. famous or not, we're fascinated about the who/what/why.

-eat a rainbow. ellie k says so. seriously, make your dishes look like a rainbow with various ingredients. you can also go monochromatic and pick one single color for your dishes.

-sooooouuuuulllll train! don cornielius, funk supreme. vegan soul food. make up a disco themed set to shoot your meals and pose with them. i dare someone to do this.

-totally awesome: theme- valley girl 80's all raw. fer sure. don't gag me with a spoon.

-protein schmotein: disprove the myth that all we eat is dirt. discuss the different foods that provide protein. did you know there's at least 2-4 g of protein in most breads? is that true? no, i just made that up. find out about it!

I totally want to do this, but instead of soul food I want to dress up in 70s gear and pose with a jello mold.

If ever we meet we will veganize the weiner jello monstrosity and film it.

It is hot dogs suspended in jello. Someone posted it on the old ppk. There is a website that shows old gross looking jello creations. but I can't find it now.

I think a fun idea is to pick something that people don't usually make at home, and make it. Like your own potato chips or pickles or something like that.

While looking for this, I found so many very inspiring things...like the sandwich cake and perfection salad. I want so badly to make a heinous jello mold, but there's no way in hell I'm eating tofu pups in beef flavored jello. I might make the sandwich cake because it's sounds like something that maybe wouldn't taste as gross as it sounds.

There was a sandwich cake at the last baby shower I went to!

What about your first/strongest food memory?
The famous person you'd like to have for dinner & what you'd make them.
Everyday meals-I think it's important to show people that being vegan is actually pretty easy.

An ingredient challenge - using up an excess of something in your pantry.

I thought of this the other day because I am currently drowning in cooking apples. My cousin bought a bushel of the darn things from a local farmer and keeps bringing more and more of them over to my house. They are lovely and sweet, but enough already! I am only one person and I can only use so many apples.

I just bought a half bushel of apples from my local farmers market so I am sure at least a couple of my posts will involve these.

The local farmer I buy from is planning to visit our site for a winter market every two weeks so maybe I can do a post about his farm and his winter produce. that might be fun.

So far, I've got tater tots and hot sauce. I'm debating whether bread or sauerkraut would fit or not because I already like to ferment things and make bread, but I know a lot of people don't.

They'd totally fit. Other ideas could be ketchup, bagels, nut butters, pasta, curry pastes, spice blends, Tings.

Sauerkraut is so much fun and easy to make! I just made some and will likely MoFo about it, even though I've blogged about it before.

OMG. I am SO working up a recipe like this. Tofu pups in agar anyone? Won't happen for mofo, not sure when or where (doesn't really fit my blog ... but I can see it working out sometime ...)
