Okay, so..I'm going in October to NYC for Comic Con and the boyfriend is like "Don't they have tons of vegan restaurants? Find some and we'll go!"

We won't have a car with us so something somewhat close to the convention center is nice. It's at the Javits Center. But yes, so help with the planning PPK!

okay, first of all, you should just start reading through the threads in the NYC forum about all the restaurants. There really are a million.
Nothing is really close to the Javits Center because it's just really far west, so don't expect to grab a quick vegan lunch nearby, but when you're in Manhattan you're never that from from awesome food with just a quick subway or bus trip. There are tons of good places, which you can read about here, but my top favorite places are Lan Cafe, Pukk and 'Snice and Lula's Sweet Apothecary, an all vegan old fashioned ice cream parlour that you really shouldn't miss. If you want to go somewhere fancy, go to Candle 79.
ETA - oh yeah, and vegetarian dim sum house!

Loving Hut is probably closest to the Javits, but it's not really CLOSE. I consider it walking distance, but your mileage my vary.

ETA: I think that's the closest I've ever come to using that phrase literally!

I accidentally Googled "Loving Hot" at first.. :shamed face: But I found it! And it's super close, only a mile. The place we're staying at is actually further away then that!

And ijustdiedinside, sorry! But thank you for all the suggestions, I'm hoping between the two of us we can figure out the subway/bus. I had heard about Lula's before and want to go but wasn't sure how to get there because I heard NYC is really big. (I've never been there)

Don't be sorry! I was just letting you know that there are a million threads about NYC restaurants in here and they have a wealth of information in them.

NYC seems a little overwhelming, but we're lucky because unlike most cities, our subway maps are pretty much to scale: http://mta.info/nyct/maps/submap.htm

So if you want to go to 1st Ave and 14th Street (for example), it's not so hard to find on the map and figure out which trains will get you there as long as you remember that the avenues go north/south, streets go east/west and numbers increase as you go north and west.

Hey that's actually easier to read than the bus maps here! (probably more accurate too) I'm used to riding public transit here, he's not; so perhaps the map reading shall be my domain and the saving from distracted safety issues will be his!

also hopstop.com and google maps will give you accurate public transportation directions!
