Yeah! I like the whoopie pies at Vinnie's. They have fried, yeasty quality, and are awesome, but I haven't seen any donut donuts. Cake donuts, but not DOOOOOOOONUTS.

Sometimes a kid just needs a donut.

Cake donuts ARE doooooooonuts..who wants a donut that loses 50-75% of its volume when you bite into it? Anyway, I keep expecting champs to have the yeasty kind but I've never seen them. Maybe if you ask nicely...

I do. I like donuts to be at least 50% air. And have some elasticity. MMMMMM. Yes.

And really, I mean cake donuts are KIND OF donuts... but they're not DOUGH. They're batter. I'm not a snob about it or anything, but when I crave a donut, I mean fried and yeasty. Not cake in the shape of a donut. Wait. Maybe I AM a snob about it. I'M SORRY!

ok, but they DO have yeasted donuts! vegan treats makes yeasted donuts and delivers them on tuesdays to various places around the city. ask them next time you're there. they usually sell out fast.

I recommend the Oreo one (or is it called Cookies and Cream?). Whatever the hell they call it, it's good.

Had a Boston Cream Pie at Vinnie's last night. I've had them before. Gooood. But yeah. I'll have to check out Champs for a real deal donut donut. Like, Krispy Kreme style.

When I was living in San Francisco, I got a dozen donuts from jordanpattern, and they were CRAMAZING.

From Penn Station, take the A, C, E, 2, or 3 (or Q even) to 14th St. Least amount of walking around underground will be if you take the A, C, or E.
Transfer to the L (toward Rockaway Pkwy.)
Get off at the Bedford Ave. stop and walk toward the Bedford Ave. exit in the station.
When you get outside, turn right and walk two blocks. You'll see a sign that says PIZZA on the other side of Bedford.
Go in. Order a slice of vegan chicken broccoli teriyaki, a slice of vegan mac attack, some garlic knots, and a delicious treat.
Wait. When your food is ready, go up and pay, and take the food back to your table.
Stuff your face.
Go lie down in the park.

oh, that's weird. cause they should have actual yeasted donuts, too. I know they get them at atlas. Maybe we don't have the same definition of donuts, but these things are definitely called donuts.

At some point they had donuts that looked like this Image

It's Williamsburg. It doesn't count. It's all 19-year-olds from Massachusetts. If it's a safely issue for your family, it's 10x safer than Times Square. Put me on the phone. I'll talk to them. Haha. Oh, Travis.

And it's only 20 minutes on the train from Penn Station. Go for it! YAAAAY!

If you reeeeaaaallly only want donuts you could always go to Atlas, which has the same ones and is in Manhattan.
But it's better if you go to Vinnies, they have pizza and hot dudes to make it for you.
(Ps bbq chicken is better than teriyaki chicken!)

i completely agree with you that baked "donuts" are not donuts (they're just cake baked in a donut shaped pan), but cake donuts that are fried are totally donuts. they might not be dough-knots, but they're totally a donut. (batter-knots just doesn't have the same ring to it)

cake donuts get smooshed out of a ring making machine instead of rolled and cut.
