Hoping to go to NYC in the not too distant future. Any recommendations on good xgfx pizza or good Italian food?

Any recommendations of non-Italian restaurants that are xgfx friendly would be appreciated too.

oooh Pala Pizza is your place! it's pretty cute, and the people are nice, and I've had very successful meals there with us as vegans, my aunt as xgfx and my sister as meat-eater. I really love the food we've had there (pizza, gnocchi and salads!) http://www.palapizza.com/

Viva Herbal usually has several pies on hand with vegan cheese and gluten free crust.

Also; You may want to check Bleecker St. There are two locations there, Risotteria and Keste's, that offer gluten-free vegan risotto and pizza/pasta respectively. They're relatively expensive though, compared to Viva Herbal, and Viva Herbal is all vegetarian with lots more options. I would say Keste's has a really good soft traditional crust whereas Viva Herbal's is more crunchy and unique in flavor. Still, it is amazing pizza, and VH does use Daiya as well as incorporate daily vegan/gluten free specials into the menu. Lovely stuff.

How could I forgot John's on 12th St! Gluten-free vegan pasta dishes that aren't too special, but definitely try the gluten-free vegan cannolis!

Thanks, all. Will be adding them all to my research and slowly talking the non-vegan friend into exploring places with me :D

Woohoo! In my research, I found out that John's on 12th will make a gluten-free eggplant parm. I LOVE eggplant parm and haven't had it in years. The panna cotta is also vegan/xgfx/soy-free. So salad, entree, & dessert. I honestly don't remember the last time that happened at a restaurant.
