Really? No one's interested in doing a bake sale this year? :(

Cool! I like to have at least five people on board before I reach out to MooShoes, then it takes on an "If you make it, they will come" kind of vibe.
Anyone else? Any thoughts on the beneficiaries?

To quote Fight Club, you choose your own level of involvement.
If you just want to show up to buy delicious things, that's awesome. If you want to bake delicious things, drop them off and leave, that's great too. If you want to hang out all day (or half the day) and help sell treats, set up or clean up, even better.
In advance, we usually make a Facebook event and a Google spreadsheet where everyone enters what they're baking, so we don't have 12 kinds of brownies but no muffins. Someone usually makes a flier or graphic for the event as well, and we try to reach out to local bloggers to help promote.
That's pretty much it!

Sorry I didn't see this earlier! I have to check my work schedule, but I at least want to bake stuff and drop it off and if I can help out during the day, I will!

Yay people! Thank you!
So! Since interest is kind of light this time around, I'm thinking maybe we should go with the group that can do the most with the least money. That'd probably be FNB or one of the two rescues. What do you all think?
I was leaning toward the 21st because I thought I was going to be out of town on the 28th, but I'm not, so maybe we should give ourselves the extra week to promote and do this the 28th?

yes, I'm a complete n00b about this stuff so I'd probably bring the stuff in plastic lidded containers, is that ok? However, I also have something like 6 cool-looking leopard chargers/platters that I could donate for display - the only weird thing is it says they aren't "foodsafe" so we'd need to put like paper or plastic wrap down on the chargers first. (Ugh I know its so weird, but an aunt gifted me 12 of them! I find them sorta useless if you have to use a plate on top of the platter.)

Whatever you're most comfortable with, I think. Personally, I like to create as little waste as possible, so I put my things in big containers and plate them when I get there. Other people feel wrapped food is less likely to be germy and prefer to buy that. We will have foodservice gloves and napkins on hand for serving.
Those platters sound great, Audrey, thanks! We can either use them for food that comes wrapped (I'm sure some will), or put a napkin on them or something.
I need to dig out my old list of tips, but the one thing I just remembered is that everyone should make a little sign (or a paper) with the name of the baked good and the ingredients, so people with allergies can check them out.
Maybe I'll ask MooShoes if they have a beneficiary preference?

yes SSD I think that'd be a great beneficiary! I was just sickened to hear he'd been taken back into custody, cannot imagine what that must be like for him and his family after all...

Turns out Daniel's legal support is all pro bono. So! FNB? Or...Empty Cages Collective*? If we choose, FNB, I know they'll be in. If we go with ECC, we'll have to reach out and wait to hear back.
(some people have issues with HA that I'd rather not get into publicly since they work so hard)
