Great! I'll set up a Facebook event ASAP so we have a link to put on the WVBS application and then we're rolling. Woo!

I'm going to the shop-up this weekend and i was thinking maybe I could hand out things to vendors seeing if they want to donate stuff to sell or maybe just general flyers that i could hand out to shoppers. I'm not good at making flyers, but I could get some printed to bring with if anyone makes one.

That'd be awesome, thanks IDJI!

I'll try to make something up. We may try to do a raffle, so if anyone there would be a good raffle prize donor, it'd be great if you could speak to them. I hate that I keep missing the Shop Ups now that they're on Saturdays.

Here's the Facebook event: https://www.facebook.com/events/462574733829054/

Can you please edit the first post of this thread (and the subject) so all the details are up top? THANK YOU!

oh just a heads-up about those platters I mentioned - in a cleaning frenzy a few months ago I apparently tossed all of em. Sorry! but I'm brainstorming to try and come up with some storage and display stuff to use...

Doh! No worries! People usually bring containers and things that we can sell out of, I have a few platters and MooShoes does this so often they have a few as well.

I do functional, not pretty, so here's a REALLY basic flier that should print well and black and white printers and be able to be left in piles without using tons of paper: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B_T36XX ... sp=sharing

If anyone wants to do a pretty one, that would be awesome. Thanks!

I dropped off about 100 flyers at the Shop-Up! I tried to give them to some vendors, too, but it was so crazy crowded in there that I couldn't approach as many tables as I wanted. But i definitely saw people walking out with flyers, so that's good!

Yay thanks!

I'm trying to think of other places we can share the link; we don't have a lot of sign ups!

Thanks. We got coverage on Supervegan and I'm going to reach out to vegansaurus.

I thought GGA was west coast. Do they have an events section (I can't find it)?

I'm going to make those cupcakes Isa just posted on the PPK blog with coconut bacon and some gluten free cookies.

I'll ask ask vegan shop-up to tweet/facebook about it.

hey all, trying to get our ideas together and I've posted on the google doc but haven't decided on a 3rd or maybe 4th item. Was going to do strawberry cupcakes but maybe I will leave those to people who are better at frosting haha, and there are a few different kindsa cupcakes already. Anyone want to suggest a type of baked good? how do the savory items tend to sell, should I make like, some mini-tarts or savory pinwheels? or continue with the sugar theme? any advice would be lovely.

i think something savory would be great! at our garden bake sales, people always ask for savory stuff, and things like cheezy biscuits or pesto rolls tend to sell well. i know i'll grab one of those pinwheels if you make them.

Savory items tend to sell amazingly well because there's usually so little of it. I'm not sure who eats more of the savory stuff, the shoppers or the volunteers who don't want to look at sugar anymore!

I was wondering if anyone would be up for having a donation jar to donate to the Boston victims? Just curious if that would be possible.

Hrm. Do you have a specific group in mind? I've seen a lot of posts raising money for Boston but very few with specific information about how it is to be used. Also, interest has been kind of tepid this time around so I'm a little concerned about how much we'll bring in. What do you think about reaching out to Food Not Bombs Boston and seeing if they need a bit of a boost?

Also, I'm coming from Coney Island and picking up the table, chalkboard sign and other things from Crown Heights. If anyone is going to be driving from nearby and can transport the stuff (with or without me), that would be amazingly helpful!

My feelings on the subject are that since everyone knows and super cares about what's going on in Boston, that people who want to donate will do it no matter what and that the bakesale should just focus on it's original purpose.

I wish I had a car to help you transport, ssd! Coney Island is far!

Sorry I've been so absent on this thread! I'm definitely baking and I'll help set up, but I'm not sure if I can be there the whole time. I'll be there a few hours at least. And I'll make twinkies and something else.
Also, SSD, I'll pick you (and the stuff) up!

Thanks! If it'll make things easier, I can take the subway to Crown Heights, where the table and things are, instead of you having to come out to Coney Island, then stop there.
