I just read about Lula's. Has anyone heard any updates?

I'll cry if it closes, seriously cry. It was the best ice cream I ever had, hands down.

It's even worse if Eddie Confetti's in Asbury Park doesn't come back because of Sandy.

Then I'll have nowhere left to take my son for ice cream. :.(

I heard about it a few months ago and haven't heard anything since, so I hope it's been resolved or it wasn't true or something.

I haven't been by their shop lately, but was encouraged that the Sustainable NYC shop on A has a few flavors in stock. Surely these are being replenished semi regularly? Which would mean product is still being made?

I've only been once, but I will actually cry if it closes.

It's not just about the ice cream, but it's about the fact that a place like that exists.
On a sad day, sometimes the very thought that a place like that exists is enough to make me happy.

When T. and I went there in November, it was an experience of pure childlike joy...I felt very innocent and silly with a big banana split. It was a real treat in so many ways.

Ok I'm freaking out a little. Lulas is closed right now and the last fb post was on Thursday to say they were unable to open. I wanted ice cream!

Someone told me that as far as the owner is concerned, this isn't the end for Lula's. So don't worry too much yet.

AHHH I'm going to NYC on May 23rd for a long weekend. Man, i've been looking forward to getting a big fat sundae for months. Any updates would be appreciated. I'll try not to get my hopes up...

That's a shame. This was the first place I stopped when I visited NYC last month, and I'm so glad I had a chance to try it. It was great. Hope they reopen soon.

Thanks for that JillW. Anyone know if John's of 12th are still serving Lula's ice cream?

Thanks Deearess. I just wondered as if it was temporarily unavailable they probably wouldn't bother altering the menu. I'll report back although I'm more likely to have the cannoli to be honest (sooo tasty, not quite as good as Candle 79 but half the price!)

What do you like at John's zinnia? I recall the first time I had the eggplant parm - I was shocked to get a huge side of pasta!

rentaghost, I meant I need to go back to NYC and try it out. I saw the sign for it at Lula's when I was there, but didn't have time to go (was able to go to Candle 79, Terri, Pala, and falafel carts, though!) I think I'd get the seitan alla rosa if I went to John's.
