I was thinking a re-branding would be the best way out of this mess. Awesome that the location is staying!

Really great news (but the timing is a bummer for me cos I'll have left town by then - I will have to make do with what Sustainable NYC has this visit).

I'm so relieved that they're coming back! and with a new name. Time for a fresh, clean start!

slightly off topic but I just noticed a big poster announcing vegan ice cream (choc and vanilla?) at the 7th Street location of Van-Leeuwen. Obviously it's no Lula's but I like to give some of my business to those making an effort in the vegan arena. Especially until Lula's re-opens. And I would probably never know if it weren't for the giant poster on their window that I saw while riding my bike. Haven't stopped in yet.

I've had the VL chocolate and it's AMAZING. Their cones are vegan too if you're willing to take a chance on the sugar. They're selling it from their trucks too.

Obviously not as awesome as Lula's with all the flavors, but still a nice development.

Yeah! That van leeuwen choc in a cone was good! Vanilla was actually coconut, but whatevs. Also very expensive, but a tasty treat for sure.

New Lula's goal: July 1. They're not sure they'll make that, though.

I keep hoping that we're going to get good news.... I can't believe they are missing their most profitable season. This is so sad for Blythe and others involved and of course for those of us who enjoy their great desserts!

I checked there about a week ago. The gate was up but blackout shades were down. Still I could tell the lights were on inside. So I guess something is happening, however slowly!

i somehow have it in my mind that Lula's announced they were reopening but under a different name because of legal issues, but i probably dreamt that.

That was the word on the street, but they never actually opened.

It's still the word on the street, but I stopped giving updated date estimates because everything ended up being wrong.

Anyway, she had to replace all the equipment and everything, so things are taking way longer than she thought they would. Lula's is still planning on coming back someday.
