I'm scratching my head trying to think of a brunchy place that would be good for weird-averse parents plus me and vegan partner. Preferably lower manhattan. Ideas?

Organic Grill in the East Village does eggs & dairy along with weird vegan stuff. no non-fish meat though, i don't think.

Yes, that would be a possibility. And nearby too. Someplace even less weird would probably be good to have in the back pocket. Brunch is my saddest meal for social dining out.

Spring Street Natural might be a decent choice, although the menu is tipped much more heavily in favor of meat. they should be able to whip up a tofu scramble or something even if there's nothing vegan on the day's menu.

ETA: Spring St Natural is way less weird than Organic Grill. my dad used to eat there all the time when he worked in SoHo.

Oh yeah, Spring St. Natural has potential. It's on the way towards the 9/11 memorial, which I was going to take them to later, so that's a plus.

And the downside to Josie's. I have taken visiting relatives to that one before but it's out of the way.

Atlas? It's not really brunchy but they have all those crepes.

I liked Josie's when I went, but it was years ago. I recall there being ample vegan options and a great wine list.
