Foodswings has a very sad but important announcement. Due to problems with our landlord, Foodswings will likely be forced to close its doors sometime soon. We are trying to stay, and it could be one month, or 3 months or 6. Just thought I'd warn all you loyal Foodswings fans that the time to get your Foodswings fix is ASAP as we don't know exactly when our time on this earth will be over. Come in now and often. We could really use the support right now.

the owners were looking to sell a few months back so i doubt a new location will pop up if it closes.

This is upsetting! And probably good for my health/stomach. Hope they figure something out.

Nooo! My partner Thomas and I took a trip to New York when we just started dating. He flew in from the Netherlands and we took the Chinatown bus to NYC for a few days. We were in Brooklyn on Christmas Eve, I think, and nearly everything was closed except Foodswings. We were so happy to find it and for it to be open. My omni boyfriend had a cowboy burger and deemed it one of the best things he's ever eaten - vegan or otherwise.

Every time we talk about going back to New York we always talk about eating there. So sad!

Husband and I are visiting in January. Hopefully they'll last through the next month or so. This was one of our favorite visits during our honeymoon. =(

Speaking of Foodswings, can someone explain the mac and wings dish that Amy/calx was so fond of? Was it an actual menu item or did she just get them together and combine them? I've been making Amy Deluxe for my NYE meal for the past few years but I was never totally clear on the story behind it.

they have a combo plate on the menu with three drumsticks and your choice of side, and mac is one of the options. is that it?

If that's what it is I ordered it last time I was in NYC, there's a pic in this blogpost. It was super awesome!

Foodswings is closed by the Department of Health for operating without a permit. I wonder if they will bother opening again since it's only a couple of weeks til the were supposed to close anyway.

I just walked past again and they are getting deliveries so hopefully they will reopen before closing permanently.

Went to go last night and they were closed at 9:00 pm, so guess they are done. Went to Champs instead and delicious as always.

That was before the DOH closed them. The notice was up Friday the 17th but not the day before or the day before that.

Someone posted on FB that they went there and there was a note on the door that they were closed by the Health Inspectors. So maybe they were forced to close early.

Its sad that they had difficulties with their landlord and I hope they can reopen elsewhere. Their shakes were really good.

Yes :) Its a shame - I keep seeing posts on FB from people wanting to make one last trip.

The thinking I saw is that they probably let their certification expire, because they knew they were moving, rather than that their food was unsanitary.

That's what I think too. I read the sign on the door and no health code violations were cited, just that their certificate expired. I went Wednesday night with a group and then went back Friday to see the sign. So disappointed. I know a lot of people said they had gone down hill but really I didn't think that. Plus, pistachio milkshakes!

Awww I just saw this. Total bummer and I'm sad I didn't get to have a last meal there.
