I was in NYC recently to see Neil Young at Carnegie Hall, and was then driving to DC to see my partner. If I left the city without any vegan treats, she would have not let me in the door. I was planning to go to Blossom's chocolate shop, but heard that it was closed. My heart sank, but I was still going to walk from near Carnegie Hall down to Blossom to get some food.

Just as I turned onto 9th near 57th, to my great surprise I saw a beautiful bright green oasis parked on the side of the road. It was after 2:00 pm, so they were closed, but still buzzing from seeing Neil the night before, I decided to knock on the door to see if I could purchase some carrot cake. Unfortunately they were sold out, but after explaining my plight, they sold me some cookies that they had left....and they were delicious!

I was not able to sample any of their other offerings, but will surely look them up next time I am in the City, and I highly recommend their cookies. Surprisingly, they are one of two vegan, organic food trucks in the City.

Good people and good food! Check 'em out!

I got a bunch of food from them one day when they first opened and didn't really like anything I got. But I just checked and almost everything I tried is off the menu, so hopefully it was just growing pains and they've worked out the kinks now.

Cool. Yeah, I imagine they were having some growing pains. I didn't have anything other than cookies, but they brought joy to my belly.

As with most restaurants, I give new establishments a second shot. It was just great to stumble upon this vegan oasis near midtown. I will look them up next time I am in the City.

Went back to the Green Radish today. This time, I got the black bean burger and one of those "donarts" they keep posting about. The burger tasted fine, but was too mushy for my liking and was very messy (there was sauce on both sides of the foil they wrapped it in). The donart, which is supposed to be a cross between a doughnut and a tart, was just a flat cupcake. For $5. If you like cupcakes (or cake in general), the texture was great. Also, they're still really slow.

I went last week and felt the same. Black bean burger nothing to write home about, a bit mushy but the dressing was nice. The donarts were a total disappointment, just flat cupcakes with a thin water icing topping but we didn't even rate it as a good cupcake texture, it was a bit dry. I didn't finish mine.
