**now with current bakesale info!**
What: Worldwide Vegan Bake Sale 2014

Where: MooShoes, 78 Orchard Street, NYC

When: Sunday, May 4, 12:30-5:30pm

Why: To eat delicious things, meet cool people and raise money for GooseWatch NYC. GooseWatch NYC is committed to the protection of Canada gooses in New York City and beyond through public education, political and legal action, on the ground efforts, and advocacy for more ethical, practical, and effective solutions to conflicts with gooses. Their mission is to end the killing of gooses, as well as other animals, whose presence serves the community and enriches our lives, and to call attention to their destruction.

Facebook event page: https://www.facebook.com/events/484846231620576/

Baking signup: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc ... ring#gid=0

If you plan on taking your treats home, don't forget to bring a container. We will have a limited number of bags and boxes on hand, but reusing your own container and saving resources is always best.

To bake or volunteer, please sign up here (please note that all baked goods must be vegan - no meat, eggs, dairy, honey or other animal products): https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc ... sp=sharing

The bake sale is from 12:30-5:30. MooShoes will be opening its doors to us at 12 PM to set up. If you are bringing food, supplies, etc. PLEASE arrive at the store by 12 PM. We will need time to set up the bake goods, merchandise, literature and raffle.

While baked goods and supplies should be dropped off at 12 PM, we ask that people not come to shop for baked goods or merchandise until 12:30 PM. It makes it harder to set up if people are standing around.

LABELING: Please prepare a card or print out with the name of the baked goods you have prepared and a note of anything special about it (gluten free, soy free, nuts, etc.) Additionally, please label its container with the same information and attach a piece of paper with the ingredient list, including the ingredients of the products you used to make the baked goods. That includes either the name and type of your ingredients (e.g., whole foods chocolate chips, earth balance made with olive oil, etc) or include the ingredients of that product.

CONTAINERS and UTENSILS: If you want your container back at the end of the bake sale, please label it with your name. If your baked goods require cutting, scooping, tonging, flipping, spatulating or anything else, please bring the appropriate utensils. Please label them if you want them back and please either pick up the containers and utensils around 5:30 PM or make arrangements for someone to pick them up for you.

I'm interested!

Possible beneficiaries are so numerous but how about Woodstock Animal Farm Sanctuary, GoosewatchNYC or Wild Bird Fund?

I like them too! Maybe let's limit it to the three organizations that have been suggested and we haven't benefited yet and vote on it? So:

GoosewatchNYC
Wild Bird Fund
Bobbi and the Strays

Feel free to share the link to this thread on Facebook and things to get more people involved.

Just fyi, I can only do may 4.

Also, there are tons of great non profit links on vegan drinks if that helps:

I could probably participate if you need people, depending on the date. I know someone at Wild Bird Fund if having a connection would help.

Cool. Since only one person has noted a specific date preference, let's do May 4?

I know some people at Wild Bird Fund too and work with Goosewatch, so I'm open to either (though I think my personal vote is for Goosewatch just because their founder and volunteers seem more involved with the local AR/vegan community).

So how do we move forward? I don't see anything registered for nyc on may 4 on the bake sale site. Sorry, I have never done this before so I don't know the process. I want to tell other people but with no actual event/place registered, I am hesitant to do so.

Do we need help finding a place to have the bake sale? How do we get the ball rolling? Thanks guys!

Once we decide on a beneficiary, if no one has a location they'd prefer, I'll email MooShoes about hosting. They've hosted every year and are super awesome about it.

After that's taken care of, I'll fill out the form on the WWVBS site and we'll be on our way!

Yay! Ok I am on board with the three you have chosen. If you want to narrow down to Bobbi & the strays & goose watch i am ok with that also.

Anybody else wanna weigh in?

Do you need people to actually work the bake sale, like set up and selling? I can't bake where I live when I'm in the city but I'd love to help some other way if I can.

Okay, as long as it's the 4th of May and not the weekend before I'd love to help.

Rad! May 4 it is. Let's make a decision: Goosewatch? They usually come to the WVBS bake sale just to buy delicious things anyway and have been doing work on basically all the bird kills, not just gooses.

I am thrilled to see the support for goosewatch!

I can bake, set up and sell.

Please let us know when there is a link on the WVBS site or a facebook page.

I have already started spreading the word and everyone is asking for a link or info. I don't want to send them here since this is more of a getting things organized thread rather than a save the date sort of thing. Know what I mean?

Thanks everyone!! So excited!!!

OK! So it's been about two days and no one has vetoed this, so I contacted David from GooseWatch and they're in. Will email MooShoes ASAP and see if they can host. Progress! Wooha!

Hurrah! MooShoes is in!

I'm going to fill out the form on the WVBS site, and then we're ready to go.

Is anyone good at Photoshop and want to make a banner for the FB event page? I was thinking we could just use GW's banner and maybe put some cupcakes under the goose's wings or something.

Thanks everyone!

ETA: Actually, I need to put the FB link on the WVBS form. I can do it without a banner image, but that's not as fun, so I'll wait a bit, but let's try to get everything finished by the end of the week, possibly maybe? Thanks!

OK! I've submitted our form to the WVBS site and we're on the Facespace: https://www.facebook.com/events/484846231620576/

I'm going to contact an admin about editing the subject and first post of this thread to reflect what's actually happening.

Next step: promotion! Anyone have any ideas for blogs and places to spread the word. Please contact anyone you can. If you don't feel comfortable, just send me the contact info and I'll do it. Also, don't forget to invite everyone on FB!

Thanks!

YAY!

And ugh. Thanks. I don't want to bother an admin to edit the post again, so I'll just leave the link here and hope people scroll: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc ... sp=sharing
