I can't believe it's actually open! I saw this place was under construction all summer and I was so curious, but it seemed to disappear. But it's back! And open! Here's the website.

But... I haven't tried it yet. :( Has anyone? Please tell me it's delicious because it's right on the route to one of my jobs.

Thanks for posting this. I hadn't heard anything about it, but I'll happen to be in the EV tonight so that's awesome. I just checked the site for the hours, I'm definitely going to try and get there.

That said, while going through the site to find the hours I found the following in the about section:

"Being vegan isn’t a trend, it’s a lifestyle. Because DF Mavens changed the meaning of dairy-free ice cream, “The Godfather of Ice Cream” Malcolm Stogo realized that something was missing."

Any idea if he or this store is related to the former Stogo ice cream shop in the EV?

This is exactly what I got when I went last weekend. It was good. Not as good as Blythe Ann's (formerly Lula's).

I finally went too! And feel about the same way — not as good a Blythe Ann's/Lula's, but worth eating. I got the chocolate almond cookie flavor, which was vanilla with chocolate swirls and chunks of almond cookie. The cookie chunks were a little gritty, which is why I didn't love it, but I'm willing to give another flavor a shot.

They also had some good looking cookies and muffins, which I might try next time. Oh, and a pretty good looking fresh juice menu, but I doubt I'll get a nice healthy juice when there's ice cream right in front of me. :D

Yup, good, but not as good as lula's! the cardamom pistachio flavor i sampled was super bitter, it was weird and gross.

it's not exactly related to stogo. if i recall correctly, the guys who opened stogo, named it after this guy because he runs a business teaching people how to open ice cream shops. deal alert: a scoop is 4.50, but a GIANT ice cream sandwich is 4.95 which you can totally share with someone if you love or if you ask the staff to cut it in half for you.

https://instagram.com/p/x2un3rxnju here's a pic of the sandwich.

oh and the factory is in Astoria, really close to where I live. so weird.

I went back again last night and tried a chocolate chunk cookie, which was delicious, but $3. But maybe that's a standard price for a good cookie and I'm just feeling poor?

I also saw they sell Treeline cheese! I haven't been able to find this in Whole Foods or other health food stores (although I honestly haven't done an extensive search) so I might pick this up next time I'm there and not feeling poor.

They are now selling DF Mavens ice cream in supermarkets! I don't know how much for because there was no label on the shelf or the ice cream.

Ugh we found the Cardamom Pistachio in Whole Foods in NJ and it tastes like they forgot the sugar?? Like it could be great if I added sugar, which is really weird! Anyone have similar experience? Is there any point in contacting the company?

Check ijdi's response above, she says the same.

Their St. Marks store is closed according to the word on the street.

Man, you'd think a year later they wouldn't still be selling a gross flavor

I bought DF's Key Lime from Whole Foods and it wasn't good. I was a little surprised because aren't they the same people behind Stogo? As for their location that's no more, they spent more time renovating the space than they did being open.

Yeah I saw ijdi's but figured it couldn't still be the same formula if that wasn't good so long ago! I hoped maybe I had a bad new batch but if the key lime isn't good either, oh boy. Maybe it's the packaged stuff? Has anyone been to the actual store recently and enjoyed it?
