NYC Protest for the Horses. Please join us for a couple hours to speak up for the horse-drawn carriage horses.
Where is the love? Certainly not from the carriage drivers or the ASPCA. The carriage drivers breaking the law by taking the horses out onto the streets during the recent winter storms, and the ASPCA neglecting the needs, health and welfare of the carriage horse by not enforcing the laws to protect the horses by letting the drivers get away with their lawlessness.
More hardship, suffering and death: Approximately 95 horses last year rotated out of the NYC carriage industry, there whereabouts unknown as the carriage owners do not need to report it if the horses are sent out of state. Carriage owners do not sent the horses to a sanctuary to let them live out their lives in peace and freedom even though they tell you they love their horses. The thanks the horses get is to be sent to the New Holland Auction house in PA for slaughter. A profit to be made from every part of the horses lives.
For more information on the carriage horses, see bahndc.org (The Coalition to Ban Horse-Drawn Carriages)
We will provide posters and flyers to hand out to the tourists to educate them about the inherent suffering involved in the horse-drawn carriage industry.
