Does anyone know of any Thai restaurants in Manhattan (besides Pukk) with good vegan options? I've had a hard time finding any places that don't use fish sauce.

Why besides Pukk? I've never had a problem just asking for no fish sauce at most places, but I don't think I've ever eaten Thai in Manhattan anywhere but Pukk.

Saha, which is downtown (on Center at Grand), is also usually nice about subbing out fish sauce and has a huge vegetarian section on their menu. The preparation is hit or miss though, the same dish is sometimes awesome and sometimes mediocre.

There's also a place right behind Moma that doesn't seem like it would be at all vegan friendly, but had seitan duck and was totally nice about the fish sauce issue. I want to say it has "tiger" in the name, but nothing's coming up for me on menupages. So that's pretty unhelpful.

I would just go to pukk though, if given the choice.

I go to Long Grain on Broadway and 95th (?) when I'm way up there. I get tofu Pad Thai and ask for no fish sauce, and they're totally cool (actually, an older dude taking my order once half-yelled WE DON'T USE FISH SAUCE IN PAD THAI, but I still ask when I go). IT'S SO GOOOOOOD. Planet Thai was good, but closed mysteriously. Little Basil on 26th near 3rd Ave. has good options. Rohm Thai on 20th near Broadway is pretty okay.

It's crazy how many places here CAN'T (for whatever reason) NOT put fish sauce in stuff. A place near my apartment in Kensington has it in basically every single GD thing. The spring rolls even. Jeebus. Three Thai places in my neighborhood, and I don't like any of them. One place I went to in Park Slope was okaaaaaaay.

I love Pam Real Thai, and they are really great with making stuff vegan.
