when did I start laugh-snorting?
THIS IS WORSE THAN WHEN I REALIZED I HAD A LISP

You guys. I was sitting in my room with my laptop, just reading book reviews and being in a good mood. I suddenly saw movement right next to my leg, so I looked down, and there was a mouse sitting right forking next to me. I jumped, and the mouse ran for the nearest cover, which unfortunately happened to be the blanket that was covering my legs. I have been doing a lot better with my mouse phobia, but I obviously have not reached the point of being okay with mice under the covers with me. I have work tomorrow and I need to go in my room to go to sleep, but now that I know the mouse isn't adverse to sitting practically on my lap, I just can't bring myself to get into bed. I'm now sitting in the hallway outside my room, which is pretty ridiculous. I took the maximum dose of benadryl in the hopes it would sedate me enough that I wouldn't care about mice, but it hasn't touched me yet. Am I doomed to sit in the hallway all night?

According to my lovely nieces Laura and Catherine, I laugh like Ernie from Sesame Street. Apparently I have been doing this all my life and no one until those plain-talking girls told me. You and I must never laugh again.

I think today is the day I make the company official with the feds. I am excited. (Frustrated a bit that I have to wait on others for the final approval, but still...)

If this last year has taught me anything it is that I am the only person who will make things happen for me.

I really dislike those kid's books that come with a cd so you don't have to read them aloud, just play the track and flip the pages. Reading out loud is important!

Nope. Awake allllll night. The benadryl made me a bit drowsy and confused, though, so I was having all sorts of bizarre thoughts. I remember at one point thinking, "What if I took pugs and dressed them up and taught them to act out Shakespeare? I would call it Shakespeare Pug. Oh my god, that's brilliant. People will love it. I am going to be so rich!"

I have to say, even now the drugs have worn off, I can still see no downsides to that idea.

I would watch that. I mean... I love Shakespeare.

I really wanted to do my first round of business cards via wood-cut, but I fear I just spent two hours making the sketch and I will find it impossible to carve all these little letters... I'm thinking of going online and overnight shipping to me some super-fancy woodcutting tool. Hmm.

Side-note though, this was very hard to type as my brain successfully converted into backwards-mode. (Because you have to make it backward for it to print correctly)

Turns out patience and an exacto-knife are working great. Not sure I'll be able to handle the patience part.

Why? Can't you just do one good design and then base it off that and get it printed? Woodcuts degrade with every print made...

Because the first round will be very temporary, as we don't have hardly any business info at all currently, but are being asked for cards already. So I was thinking of just hand-making about 10 or so.

But PS, it didn't work at all, I was too impatient and scraped out too large of chunks.

Also I don't want it to look computer-printed. I want it to be visibly noticeable that it's an ink on paper print. Lino would be easier but I didn't have any on hand. So, I'll have to actually leave the house to get supplies! What nerve!

As for when we are ready for more than about 10-20 cards, yeah I'll get it printed for real, probably find someone who'll screen print it maybe? Or letterpress? If anyone has any tips for what type of printing is nice, let me know.

If someone sent me an html file that was supposed to be opened as adobe...I'm not going to be able to open it, right? And if you guys know a way to open it, can you tell me? I think it was just encoded wrong (or whatever the word in computerspeak is). It's my sister's airline ticket and they sent .html file and labeled it as .pdf/adobe which is WRONG, it is NOT it is .htm (not even .html, if that matters) . I've tried converting it myself to Adobe/.pdf but no dice, I get an error message that says it was sent as an e-mail attachment that wasn't decoded correctly, which I suspect is the case...

I've .pdf's my own manuscripts from .doc successfully in the past, so I have a bit of experience with this and am not totally in the dark...

But if anyone knows a quick fix/way to open this, I'd appreciate the advice. Or just tell me I won't be able to make it work and they need to re-send at the source. Thanks!

I made an appointment with the doctor for tomorrow. I'm pretty sure that, if it feels like my eardrum is about to burst, that's not a good thing.
