Climbing at the gym with my guy was awesome today. Also awesome were Veggie Galaxy and jamming this evening with the drummer (gotta get the rhythm section tight).

I had the best laughs with one of my favorite coworkers. THEN I had a car picnic with frodo, read the walking dead and went to the park.

Picking up my love from the airport and catching up on snuggles and kisses! They are curled up in bed, sleeping off their jetlag right now, and I have the whole of tomorrow to spend with them (they'll probably be asleep/out of it for most of it, but oh well!)

The super fancy/super expensive review copies of academic books from John Benjamins arrived today! Wheeeeeeeee, shiny/new/gorgeous books! (They even sent a note reminding me that the 4th review copy is coming next month once the book is released! Huzzah!)
eta: That's over 400 euro's of free (academic) books! Hot damn.

The actual best part of today (even better than books!) was singing with my friends tonight. One of them brought a harp, and we sang half of the songs to gorgeous, gorgeous harp music and the other half a capella. I harmonized! Spontaneously! That's never happened before.

I'm sitting in my favorite coffee shop feeling sick and grumpy and the roaster just came over and gave me free coffee beans because the bag was a little short of 12oz. A+, coffee shop!

Yesterday: seeing Rock of Ages with biker boy and some of his friends at a theater with restaurant and bar service. I feel like you probably have to be in the 35-50 range to fully appreciate it, but we thought it was hilarious (Tom Cruise was just ridiculously into the over-the-top-ness of that role.) Biker boy was having way to much fun (he was a total metal guy in high school.)

A couple of weeks ago I sent a DJ in San Diego a speculative email asking if he'd play one of our tracks on his show. He loved the one I sent him so much he bought the forking EP!

My best thing was that doctor who boy and I are hanging out again and I got cuddles and smooches from him, plus an apology for him not being in a good place before and leaving me hanging.

This happened after midnight, so it counts as today. My husband usually makes a pot of coffee at night to put in the fridge so I can have iced coffee in the morning, but I realized after we had already gone to bed last night that I had forgotten to ask him to. Even though it was late and he is sick, he got up to do it and when he came back, he said the sweetest thing. He told me that when situations like that come up, he thinks about what he would have done when we first got together because he doesn't ever want to stop impressing me. And then this morning, after I thought he left for work, he came back inside with a bunch of wild flowers he picked for me because I was a little bit frustrated about something and he wanted to cheer me up! He makes me so happy.
Also, I had a really great piece of banana bread that I made last night.

got a letter through today confirming that all my documentation (references, CRB check and medical info) has all checked out so the job offer i got a month ago is now unconditional. and i start monday! yay! i was unemployed for 6 months last year, then spent 7 months working a temporary contract for not much pay and horrendously long days (between 2 and 5 hours' commuting time on top of 8-10 hours work), but this new job is a permanent role, a better job itself (IT Service Management) for a lot more money and is a 10 minute tram ride/cycle commute away. so yes, i'm very happy with where things are right now!

Best thing about yesterday (since it's early today)... swing lessons with my man. It was our 7th week and he's improved SO much! I managed to pass him off to a more experienced dancer to improve some of his moves during the open practice time and I got to learn how to mix 6-count and 8-count while he did that. I can't wait until he is able to lead the more advanced stuff!

And I talked to my manager about maybe hiring her, and she's going to talk to him about the opening. It might not work because he might want to fill it befor she can get here, but I can hope!

A teenage friend of mine, the child of one of my really good friends, just came out as trans and is getting this huge huge outpouring of support from all her friends and family members. I'm chatting with her right now and she's telling me all about how supportive everyone has been. I've had an amazingly terrible day until now and this is totally maybe kind of restoring my faith in humanity. :)
