PPKIdol???

When I'm struggling with a particular key or style of singing I'll choose a song I love in that emulated what I want to do and practice howling along to it until I've either trained my vocal chords or given myself a bit of a sore throat.

The Kathleen Hanna screech is taking a looooooong time to do.

If I can learn to sing and get the guitar I'm bidding for on ebay, I promise to write a PPK song.

Speaking of singing, Charlie Brown just came up in conversation and I sang "You're a good man, Charlie Brown" but to the tune of "You're a mean one, Mr. Grinch" and it took me a full 20 seconds to realize why my boyfriend was laughing. oops. It sounds right, right??

Once, when I thought the house was empty, I was walking around singing a Kate Nash song to myself. My housemate was apparently upstairs laughing the whole time, but didn't want to disturb me because I was clearly having a wonderful time doing it.

I've just spend half an hour recording myself singing along to various songs and then listening to myself. Erk. I have identified things I can work on... I just need to find out how I go about doing this.

I just looked at a 3-bedroom apartment with a potential housemate. I thought it looked great, but he was thoroughly unimpressed. Person #3 couldn't make it.

I already agreed to look for a place with these folks (one is a friend and the third is their current roommate) but I'm starting to get the impression that their budget and tolerance for living further away is wildly different from my own (I'm willing to spend more to live right nextdoor to school and they're willing to travel further to pay less).

My current place IS overpriced and I would like to spend less.. Maybe I've just gotten used to living alone for the last year and the prospect of having housemates again as a cost-saving measure is making me antsy and I'm just looking for bullshiitake reasons to back out?

Or maybe it's really just that you guys have different priorities! I know 100% about myself that I'll pay more to be closer. I hate commutes, wether biking, bussing or driving, just hate it! Some people don't care either way!

Yeah, I'm kind of the same way; I really enjoy living right in the thick of it and don't want to have a significant commute. These guys currently live a 40 minute commute away (from the university) by public transit, and I live a 5 minute walk away. They also pay maybe half as much as I'm paying right now. They want to reduce their commute without significantly increasing costs and I want to reduce costs without significantly increasing the commute so presumably we should be able to meet somewhere in the middle (since further splitting costs lets me go cheaper and them come closer) but I'm not sure if I'm happy with the currently proposed compromises.

I hadn't had an allergy attack in over a month because I finally got some lactose-free allergy pills that worked (thanks, jojo!). But I ran out about a week ago. My eyes were itchy a few times throughout the week. And then I started sneezing. I caught it yesterday with some nasal spray and managed to not sneeze through Macbeth. But the nasal spray didn't work today. I'm looking forward to Wednesday when I can get the prescription refilled (because they only gave me a one-month prescription to see how it worked).

ha. that's so gross! i was trying to think of a non-gross way to make a not vegan cupcake, but I couldnt.

then I was thinking, maybe i'd have a bakery and just name one cupcake the "not vegan" even though it would still be vegan. then if people came in and didnt want vegan stuff they'd order that! ha!

I have planned to have soup tonight for dinner but I really want a big, GIANT bowl of mashed potatoes, smothered in "butter."

I have soup in the fridge but now I want what you want, salt & black pepper!

I'm finding myself super annoyed when people ask for a recipe and then never end up making the dish. A huge percentage of the time, it's not one I can link to online, so I take the time to pull the cookbook out and type it up for them... then nothing.

Maybe everyone is just used to opening a bunch of cans and boxes and tossing shiitake together, and they get scared away by real food after they see the recipe?

My ability to cover up the fact that I am not actually working... is like a super power.

Which sounds just awful. But some of you understand.

Oh my. I have EB in the fridge for once, and I think I am leaning in this direction for dinner too.

I have accomplished nothing in the nearly 4 hours I've been at work so far today.

Watching Molly eat her fruit and veggies is amusing. The bowl is at the bottom of the cage (so it doesn't get kicked out by the macaw).

She climbs down the side (about 3-4 ft depending where she sits), chooses a piece, then climbs all the way up to the top with it in her beak, eats, then goes down for more. Repeat. It is funny watching her race up with a big piece of pepper or apple in her beak.

I found organic grapes, so she is trying those. She holds half in her food and scoops out the inside with her beak, then throws the empty skin on the floor.

After she eats her pepper she always has pepper breath.

I just got invited to record an a cappella track for a TV commercial with some folks from my group.

The recording studio time is scheduled for Thursday evening. I have class Thursday afternoon, and I'm leaving early Friday morning on a road trip, and I may also have a friend staying over Thursday night so we can leave as early as possible Friday morning.

Whatever. I'm totally going to find a way to do this :D

They haven't even told me yet what the commercial is for! I don't even care! Maybe I should care. Nah, I don't care.
