I would be happy never having to listen to omnivore people defending their paleo diet ever again. It just not making any sense. And the inherent self righteousness that usually comes with a paleo diet doesn't help either.

It went rather well. They were early and seemed genuinely interested. Also, they're going to be abroad for most of July, so they want to sign a lease really soon and then move in mid-August or early September. (Which would be perfect.)

It's so ridiculously dark outside, and it's only noon. There's only a 30% chance of rain, but it looks really nasty out, like tornado nasty. It's going to sprinkle for a while, and then pour when I have to leave for work. Such is my luck.

I am seriously hating life right now. I have a 56 mile team ride tomorrow morning and weather.com is calling for a 50% chance of rain the whole time I will be out there. Alone, because I can't keep up with my teammates. Oh, and chance of thunder. Awesome. This is in a hick town 45 minutes north of here, where they are notorious for being hateful to cyclists.

I wish Whole Foods would stop sending me emails about sales on meat. I am not the right audience. Stop!

So a non-ppk vegan has appeared in one of the other forums I frequent (where I was actually having a good time with some friends that I rarely see). At first I was glad to see that I'm no longer the only vegan there. However, she's one of those people who have to use the word vegan at least twice in every post they make (even if it's just chatter, she has to end everything with "vegan greetings" or somesuch nonsense), and also posting links to vegan info sites all over the place. This in a place where people mostly discuss books.
How can I tell her that I wish she was less...obtrusive? I'm afraid she'll take the fun out of everything and make the non-vegans think ill of all of us.

I am glad I took a shower last night. We had a bad storm and I got an email this morning saying we are under mandatory water restriction until further notice. Now I have to figure out if that means we can't drink water. If so, I might need to buy some from the store.

Clopen. 4 hours sleep. So tired. Can't wait to come home and take a nap.

Once you're out there, you'll be fine. I often dread rides but am ALWAYS fine once I'm out riding. Have fun! I'm doing about that distance today too!

I'm glad you didn't lose power! That was quite a storm. The wind here felt like being in a wind tunnel; I'm surprised we don't have more trees down around here. Our lights were flickering for a good 10 minutes.

The lightning was really beautiful though.

1408, which is a Steven King story about a haunted hotel room. It dances through so many little horror clichés with such elegance and grace and always gives you the one you weren't expecting.

I was truly terrified starting out, mainly about the climbing. But one of my teammates fell before the ride even started (wet, slick pavement) and when we were grouping up, he volunteered to ride with me so he could take it easy. I was so grateful not to have to do that ride alone that I almost burst into tears! And the new coach rode with us too. Sooo. It still sucked a fair bit with the rain and the crasshole drivers and the hiiiiiillllllsss, but I made it! I am really, really trying to learn to love the bike the way I learned to love running, but it's a challenge.
